Let's see you restrain yourself if you got a free shot at someone who may have attempted to kill someone close to you.

Wow, I'm surprised they thought the beat-down was necessary after the tumble that guy took out of the window of his rolling van!

I dont think he is a police officer.
I have a few friends that are RCMP Officers. I have a few more that are going through interviews to become one.
The process to become an officer is not that easy. The people who do these jobs are supposed to be people with above average morals. They are supposed to be people capable of this restraint.
I am glad to hear they were fired.

I couldn't which is why i never chose a career as a police officer.
It's not the job of an officer to dole out vigilante justice.

It's human nature for people to react in this way. I would be doing the exact same thing.
I don't hold police officers to this high moral pedestal, they are human beings, they have emotions, feelings. They make snap judgements, they make mistakes. They shouldn't have done what they did, but I totally understand why they did it. Maybe the idiot driving the car should have thought twice about what he was doing and who he was doing it to.

If it's human nature, how come we don't see more incidents like this in the news with officers being fired? Could it be they understand incidents like this are part of the job and that it's the job of courts to dole out punishment as opposed to some vigilante beating.
They made a mistake and it cost them thier jobs. I'm glad they got fired and i hope others in the profession take notice.

I never said what they did was right or justified, I just know and understand why they did it. The driver put their lives and other lives in danger for more than 50 miles. The driver almost hit another officer.
I have no sympathy for what the driver got. I have some sypathy for the officers that got canned because I understand their motives when they beat down the ######bag.

There is a reason we have a legal system. The majority of the time it works. The police NEVER have an excuse to abuse their power by beating someone who is clearly not moving and is no risk to any of them anymore.
For those who say the guy got what he deserved, I really feel bad for you. To joke about it is one thing but some seem to be serious about this guy deserving it. I'd say he got all he deserved when the police successfully ran him off the road. He flew out the window and was no longer moving. The police caught their man using all necessary force at that time. Everything after that was ridiculous way over the line.
|
I don't see any kicks, and I only see one guy throwing any punches. Of course, is a grainy youtube video, so it's hard to tell.
The only thing that I can see that even looks anything like a kick is the first cop slipping down the side of the ditch, and perhaps his boothits the guy in the side before he stops. If the cop was atempting to kick the guy there, it would have looked much different. Other than that, I just see cops surrounding the guy and pinning him down (more than necessary, but the cops didn't know the guy was unconscious until they got there, and really, there's no reason to even check the guy's level of consciousness before he's cuffed.

but the problem is that by the very nature of their job they have to be held to a higher standard

Your posts are nothing more then another form of discrimination... only it is directed at police officers and for some reason, that is acceptable. Change police officer to a particualr group of peoples, and your posts would be deleted before they get posted... as I said, the mods on here accept your posts for whatever reason. It is pretty common knowledge that posts on this board in general have really been deteriorating, this is a key example.
Mind you, your name is redneck so we really can't expect anything intelligent or informative from you.

Without condoning what the police did, maybe post the entire video (or at least the longer version which doesn't isolate a particular portion to promote an agenda):
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/crime/2009/05/20/pn.car.chase.rollover.cnn
Edit: CNN links are whacky, try the 5 and a half minute link.
It pretty clear he tried to run down the cop laying the spike belt. Interesting and rather honest comments by the mayor too.
Reminiscent of CPS member Cst. Rick Sonnenberg.

Oh my. Using that term pretty loosely, don't you think? Discrimination against cops? Lawyers, car salesmen, and realtors laugh at this.

What kind of communist country do you come from where one cannot criticize the police? I do have a somehwhat low opinion of them and I should not be made to feel bad about it. Guess I could lay off the conspiracy news websites though...........

No, I just comment when someone is being repetitive and trollish. I don't feel the need more than once every couple months, so I guess now I'm good until July or until someone posts another thread even vaguely related to cops.
