How To Buy Sunglasses
Well my birthday is coming up and I need a new pair of sunglasses. So I'm thinking the 2 birds, 1 stone philosophy just might come into play.
That said, I have NO IDEA what type of frames I should be trying to pick out. I always feel rushed, and like a tool when I walk into the optical place. So many choices I don't know where to begin.
I see pictures from my last pair and they seem too big. That said I don't really know what I should be looking for.
Thoughts, ideas, suggestions on what might suit my face shape the best?

I think you go the store with a friend, try some on asking for advice for said friend, and buy whatever pair suits you best.
It's exchanging of money for a product, can't be that hard.

Make sure you don't put the glasses on upside-down.

Not sure how you buy sunglasses, but the first place you should wear them is at the night club. Chix dig guys at the bar in sunglasses. Oh, and get a turtleneck too

Oakley
They have THE BEST optics.
-patented XYZ technology...basically no distortion when looking through the lens.
-variety of styles/colours
-variety of lens colours/shade
-materials, plastic to metal
it is what the pros use in racing, cycling, running, shooting, beach volleyball, skating (hockey, too)...even military use. look at all the olympic athletes and other sports figures.
yes, they are expensive. but, unlike other expensive brands (CK, Nike, Scott, Gargoyle, LV, Coach, Adidas, etc.) you are getting a quality product.
with other brands, you are paying for the name. in fact, you may not get 100% UV protection...and you will get lens distortion.
with Oakley you are paying for the quality of the lens (yeah, and brand too), 100% UV protection, no distortion, impact protection (can be used as saftey glasses, meets or exceeds saftey regulations)
I will only wear Oakley sunglasses and frames. I have 5 of sunglasses, 3 pairs of prescription (frames).
Check out their stuff, not only sunglasses. http://oakley.com/

^^^^ Totally agree (with awildermode) . Oakley is far and away the best product out there. Style and function. If you buy almost any other name brand you'll be paying for style only.
I have a pair of A wires as my prescription glasses, relatively cheap too only about $220 and I have two pairs of Juliets as my sunglasses. I've got the special edition Ruby Juliets like the ones Cyclops wore in the first X-men movie. I got them 6 years ago and still have them. I've had my second pair of Juliets for about 3 years and they are awesome too. Great thing is I can buy lenses for about $60 and change them every once and a while. Slightly on the expensive side but Oakley has cheaper frames but then again they won't be made out of Titanium alloy.
I wouldn't make perscription Oakley sunglasses because it messes up the XYZ technology and is hella expensive.
Iggneuf it is funny you say that because I was holding back from presenting my pro Oakley pitch because I generally don't encourage people to buy Oakleys because some ahole "friend" of mine went out and bought the exact same pair of Juliets that I had because I was always talking about how awesome they were. Needless to say I told him to promptly go eff himself. So now I just keep to myself, even though Oakley are far and away the best.

no, but i did get a chance to tour their headquarters. they have their own custom factory, they make their own tools. with the exception of metal frames, all eyewear is made there (quality control).
they also have one of six 'privately owned' NBA approved/certified basketball courts. they had one built for product testing (shoes) and employee use.
sometimes i wish i worked there, but i have a pretty cool job

I really like Oakleys too. No distortion at all. I actually gave my pair to my brother; he got into a car accident with them on, they broke, he phoned them and they sent him a new pair for free, no questions asked.
I also had a pair of Ray-Bans; they were nice but I though they were actually made things a little too dark.

Let's be honest, you're probably going to lose these glasses anyway.
Just buy a pair of aviators at the drug store for 30 bucks and be done with it
