For any of you Tragically Hip fans, I just started listening to my copy of "Live from the Vault Volume 4" which came with the copy of We are the Same I ordered. It's a recording from a show December 5th, 1994 in Brussels. So far, I am loving it, and I totally recommend ordering it as it captures the essence of a live Hip show to great effect. There's an up tempo version of At the Hundredth Meridian which is just great!
New album from Bob Dylan out entitled "Together Through Life." Patrick Watson also have a new album out.
And althought it was released back in January, I'm going to pump Beast's self-titled debut. Pretty good group out of Montreal. You may have already heard there single
"Mr. Hurricane".

I don't think it's been mentioned yet, but for mainstream fans, Green Day's album is coming out this month. Thing hasn't leaked yet and I'm not sure why it's not getting any hype considering the last album was a huge comeback and a grammy winner (even though Grammy's are meaningless).

The new single is garbage, IMO.

The Joy Formidable released "A Balloon called moaning" earlier this year and I can't understand why it isn't really catching on besides on NME radio where they gave the album away. Out of the 8 songs there isn't one that I flip through on my ipod even after a few months. One of my favorites of the year so far! There is a free song on the blog above and Whirring and Cradle are also great songs among the others. Anybody know when they are going to release this in North America?
Tori Amos' Abnormally Attracted to Sin is set for release May 19th. Judging by the first two sinlges the album seems to go back to her more melody and lyric dominated past. That's a welcome move for me because I wasn't a big fan of her last album.

I don't know guys. I like Green Day, so it's not coming from an unbiased source, but on first listen, the single isn't bad. It's catchy, but just too repetitive and goes nowhere. I wouldn't say it sucks though.
The band -- frontman Wayne Coyne, bassist Michael Ivins, and guitarist Steven Drozd -- have written 13 tracks for the new release, and plan to pen eight to nine more in Drozd's empty, unsold house, which the axeman put on market last summer
Coyne said that one new track, called "Convinced of the Hex," is like "Joy Division-meets-Miles Davis Group," while "I Don't Understand Karma" is his response to John Lennon's "Instant Karma."

I could never figure out if "wake me up when september ends" was a bad song or if the video was just so over the top terrible that it ruined the song for me. My guess is it's a little of both.
I did like American Idiot though, and I'll be sure to give the new album a listen. I don't love the new single nor do I dislike it. I do have a thing for concept albums though, so my interest is fairly high.
Also can't help but notice the Beast plug from rubecube. I think I've heard about that album a little too much to not give it a try.
I think it's better than Karmacode, but not as good as classic LC albums. One thing that downright p!sses me off is that they did not learn from Karmacode and keep on giving Andrea Ferro's WAAY too much air time. Even a deaf person would realize Cristina is the gem in this band yet they split vocal duties 50/50 and his singing simply (almost) ruins many of their great songs. Unfreakinbelieveable.
And here's my favorite of 2009 so far, a Dutch band Autumn and their album Altitude. They got a new singer, songs are a bit less edgy than on their previous album (My new time - recommended) but they are still awesome. IMO one of the best you can find in the glam gothic rock genre (think Within Temptation).
