They are a subsidiary of CIBC. I use them and I've been able to pay any type of bill I've ever had online. Plus the convenience of being able to use CIBC cash machines has been nice. I live in a dead end no where town and theres two bank machines I can get cash from with no fee. Why pay fees when you don't have to.
I've even had two instances where debit cards were cloned and I had $800 withdrawals made out of my account. Reported them when I noticed them and they took care of it right away and credited everything back to the account.

I've been using them since about 1996ish, and I'm quite happy. Though the lack of a branch has caused a couple of problems over the years.

For the most part it is great, but if you ever need to get a certified cheque or bank draft, you will find that challenging. (It takes about a week and is sent by mail.)

For PC Financial and their certified cheques they will queue it depending on what you
are doing with it. They will send it to the closest CIBC branch of your choosing.
If you are buying a car, house, or anything that requires immediate response, tell them.
They will move it up the queue.
The first time I bought a car it took 3 days to get the certified cheque. At the bank
they told me to phone and inquire why it took 3 days, becuase it should be one day.
So I did. The lady on the phone said that next I should tell them it's for a car/house
and terms are immediate.
The next time I told them and had the cheque the following day.

Edit PS: PC Financial is great, and just like the advertise. No fees!

PCF is great for your everyday banking, but I don't think I'd get another mortgage with them. Sometimes nothing takes the place of being able to yell at someone in person.

Have a mortgage with them as well and that was as smooth as silk. No need to yell at anyone. Their posted rates are generally competitive with with mortgage brokers. Right now they are as low as 3.9% fixed for 5, if you go for the mortgage without PC points.

I have it and love it for everyday chequing--the unlimited debit swipes is nice too.

I have both the chequing and savings accounts with them.
I primarily use my local credit union for most of my banking, I don't use the debit card enough to warrant any fees there, plus I like the ability to walk into a bank when I need to.
However before I switched (well added) I used PC without any problems. I'm on my 3rd (I think) PC Mastercard (by third, it expired twice) so I've been using it for some time now. No problems with that at all. Once I had a charge from a Quebec based cable company appear on my statement. I called them up to ask about it, long story short (a few hoops to pass through, file a report, nothing major) I got the money credited back. It was really hassle free, they sent a form, I read/filled in the blanks/singed the form, sent it back, then they credited me my money back.

Been using them for years, but just opened a CIBC account. I like being able to go in and see someone in person sometimes, and that's the only downside I found with PC. Also, when I bought my car, the bank draft I needed took longer then they told me it would, and was a bit of a pain to get done.

They are great for the most part. I keep a second account with ATB when I need to do in-branch things.
The only problem, is you have to shop at Superstore to get the full benefits of the banking experience. I now drive an extra 10 minutes to avoid the nearest one by km (sunridge).

My experience has also been very good. Was with TD for years and years with a flat $10 (or something) fee, then they did away with that and my fees went to $50 or $60 a month. Moved everything to PC Financial in about '98 or so and couldn't be happier. Online bill paying is great, no issues. Account updates are good, downloads transactions to MS Money (or Quicken).
No complaints whatsoever.
As others have said, if you need a certified cheque or money order, it takes some time but there are ways around that. When I paid out the lease on the minivan (about $12K if I recall) I just had them remove the limit on my debit card for an hour and put it through on there. No muss, no fuss.
