Wow.

And then the following episode when Lucy dies. Put together perfectly. I cried.
I remember that was a long long wait between finale and premiere.

Thread! I resurrect thee!
Tonight is the 2 hour (3 hour if you count the 1 hour retrospective) ending of E.R.
I'm going to really miss this. After about 8 years of crappiness, they finally get it right and this last season was actually really good with really good characters after they got rid of the annoying ones.
The last bunch of episodes have been pretty amazing. The return episodes of Anthony Edwards and Clooney were well done. Even regardless of the cameos by these guys, the main characters have their own compelling stories. Angela Banfield's especially and John Stamos and Linda Cardellini's storylines with her mother are good too.

That was good.
I loved the flashback show beforehand. I'll never forget that first season episode of Love's Labour Lost. Best episode ever.

I have a crush on like 3 of the recent characters of that show Parminder Nagra, Cardellini and the chick from News Radio, so I am definitely going to miss this show. I loved it in the beginning, lost touch for a few years in the middle then came right back to it over the last few years. The retrospective done last night was great!

i think this last season was fairly well done after having several years of boringness.
to me, what made the show great those first few years was the character development of the doctors. then they had these several years where they spent too much time with guest stars that were patients. while those episodes often were great, it would kill the momentum of the season. one episode i recall was with ray liotta. sure it was a good episode and liotta was great, but all the story arcs of the season had to go on hold for that week.
they also had a great set of actors at the beginning. and though they brought in good people, they just never recaptured that magic.
but how many shows can you think of that were able to stay successful after losing all of their main cast? i mean who would have watched friends if ross, rachel, joey, etc all left the show? i would say thats a good testament to the writing of that show that it did that. the simpsons can keep going strong because they get to stay the same year after year.

Crichton, Spielberg and Wells were a pretty powerful team.

Love's Labour Lost or the episode where Mark died were the most moving for me. BTW - did they hide Kellie Martin? I didn't see her in the retrospective..... I know she was only there for a year and a half, but she was important in Carter's character development.
BTW - I plan on checking the pilot to see if there was anyone left from day 1. Malik? Jerry? Haleh?

I think Malik for sure, not sure about the rest.
I decided last night I am going to go purchase Season 1 for sure, maybe will pick up some more too.
Yes, the episode where Mark died was very moving too, you are right, I would have to say my second favourite.

I watched it last night for the first time since that d-bag doctor was killed by the falling helicopter and I thought it was a great episode. I used to watch the show all the time and I think I might have to go and grab some of the earlier episodes on DVD.

Haleh and Nurse Lydia have been there since the beginning.
Jerry had a bit of a hiatus during his run on the show.
Frank appeared in the Pilot, but as a different character.

There was a great scene in the look back episode where Romano was being his usual ######bag self and being hard on Dr. Benton and his deaf son. When Dr. Benton turned around to walk away and was carrying his son and his son was look at Romano, Romano sign languaged to him something like: "go get em' kid!" or something like that.
The ending episode lacked something for me. It was a "life goes on" episode and I sort of wanted something more climatic or emotional I guess. Not that I wanted cliches like the hospital to explode or more past cast to return or some sort of tragedy or victory or something life changing but I wanted something more oomphy for a 15 year series.

I actually liked the ending, it showed a new Dr. Greene on the horizon - putting in place that Dr Green was the hub of this show from beginning to end. Very fitting.
It's sad that it's gone though but i did ride out the crappy years and never missed an episode. (if i did, i would just dl later on)
Can't wait to buy seasons 11 to 15!
This and West Wing were my favorite series.

Are you referring to during the last season? I dunno.... I'm still on season 10 and then watched the finale. So I was like "WTF? Uncle Jesse is on my favorite show?!?!"
What I was referring to earlier was that *SPOILER ALERT*:
Mark obviously was able to fix Rachel as she is now a responsible young woman following in her fathers footsteps and going to medical school...

It was probably the best episode of this season (that or the one where it flashbacked to the 60s version of the hospital in the eyes of the dying man who was the one who originally built the ER ward).
Before Dr. Banfield started working at the hospital, she brought her kid into the ER and Dr. Greene was the physician, it flashed back and forth between that time and the current crisis.
