One would think that the union workers would be thankfull for thier jobs in the current US economy.
That's the key word in the equation. Edit: (Great minds Tranny).
I would be shocked if Toronto didn't put forth a massive effort to land 8 KC home games. Didn't Oklahoma City do that with an NBA team because of Hurricane Katrina? It's all last minute, but at least it would have some consistency for the franchise and frankly is in a city the NFL is already considering. That said, maybe Buffalo would have problems with this arrangement.

A little OT here but, in the current recession. Will this be an opportunity for industry to do some union busting considering the sad state of the economy. You don't think your job pays enough? Here are 100,000 people who do. Bye.
There is a very real chance that the Chiefs will play all 16 games on the road this season. I kid you not. They have already asked and been given permission by the league for this to happen.
So will that take them from 2-14 to 1-15 now?

Try being a dues paying union member who is working for 'the dark side' some time. Interesting dynamic I tell you.
I've seen enough in my 5 years with the USPS to know that a union is probably necessary, but man do we have some horrible employees still around because of it.

What a major disadvantage for the Chiefs. If the Cutler problems in Denver persist to the point that he's moved and somehow the Chargers implod, the Raiders might actually have a chance at the playoffs with a 6-10 record!
Yeah, but the caveat there is that the Raiders would have to win 6 games. They'll lose a tie breaker to the Chargers as both teams will have 5-11 records.

In my mind this is the best possible time for something like this to happen. The Chiefs stink, so expectations are low. If they do go 1-15 they can blame part of it on being on the road for the entire season.
Oh my god. That cop should be canned. Its one thing to make your point. But to purposely be a jerk like that is outrageous. Get this guy off his pedestal before he ends up shooting somebody for fun.
Wow will be interesting to see how many extra injuries occur if they extend the season by 2 games. I can't see them doing a 17 game schedule because some teams would have a huge advantage of one extra home game. So than they'd need to do 16 neutral site games for all 32 teams to have one which I guess could happen. But if its about value for the fans you'd think it would be an extra home game for them.

They already play those games...they just dont count.
How much of those games do teams have their starting players in? At most starters get a half in the final pre-season game, even than most games still have the intensity level cranked down. Make them count and my guess is that you would see a lot more players really banged up come playoffs.

I think having two extra games may drive up injuries by a little since their will be two extra games where starters will be exerting effort. We might see more of those injuries near the end of the season since they are doing two extra games and the teams are trying to get into the playoffs.
Well just by simple numbers you're adding 13% more games where things are going to count for something. Given the grind of the season, I might hazard to guess that you'll see a 15% increase in injuries, and as the artical states it will impact the length of career for a few players. Will it be better for fans to have more games? Sure, they love the game and lets face it, theres no shortage of football talent or programs feeding the system. But it will be considerably tougher on the average player.
Another thing is that if the schedule is 18 games and you have the same 32 teams in 8 Divisions. You would have 33% of the games within the Division. Whereas in the 30 team NFL it was 8 games or 50% of the schedule. So would you still give Division winners automatic home field if they win their Division when Divisional play would likely amount to a lower percentage than the number of Conference play games for any given team. Assuming an 18 game schedule would be 3x2=6 Division games, 4 non conference games and than any Division would play either all other teams in 2 Divisions or it would be one Division and than 2 teams from the other two Divisions.

I think if they do look at extending the season a couple extra days, then the NFL should alter the IR policy. Right now, if you're placed on the IR you're done for the season, end of story. Doesn't matter if two months from that point you're 100% healthy and ready to go, if you're on there, you're gone. But with more games and the risk of more injuries, it should be altered to say, a 9-game IR list, or something to that affect. Because you're right, more injuries are definitely likely with the longer season.
49ers finally release Jonas Jennings. Then they signed Marvel Smith to a contract (apparently with a lot of playing time incentives). More o-line changes. I wish the 49ers could be one of those teams with the same core o-line for 3 or 4 years.
