Wow Brentwood was packed when I got there, and it's usually pretty empty at that time.
Good thing I found a parking spot downtown that's the same price as this transit debacle.

I park at Anderson and it was hella packed this morning by 7:30... usually i can find a pretty decent spot at that time.
If you park in the ghetto (6th ave and 4th st. SE) you pay $7 or $8 to park all day...
I think I might start doing that rather than spending the $2.50 x 2 (train tixs) + $3 for parking.

I agree. The transit is a debacle. I am very glad for my current contract that I don't work downtown. When I do work downtown again hopefully the Crowfoot LRT station will finally be ready. I am fortunately within walking distance to it. Otherwise I would be steaming mad at the transit debacle.

Was the overflow filled at Anderson at all at that time? I drive 2 days a week but if Anderson is full by then I might just drive all the way to school instead.

A question I have for the people who paid for parking at a LRT lot (If any will admit to it), Was the payment system aligned in a way that made it at least in anyway easy to pay (Ie lots of machines to take your money in close locations to where you ended up parking) or was it a debacle of monumental proportions where you had to walk a fair distance to a machine and wait in line behind numerous other commuters for 10 precious commuter minutes for the privilege of lining the city's pockets to fund various social engineering schemes?

I am planning on just setting up an account online and paying by cellphone once I am on the train or platform. They don't require the ticket to be placed on the dash, and you need to enter your plate number so there is no reason to deal with the machines unless you only use it once and a while..

So then if I go into the parking lot and stop anywhere and the white van comes around I will get a fine for not paying for my parking?

I am going to explore all possible options to keep me from paying this just for the fun of it. And yes, I will start parking in nearby businesses and communities to skyrocket prices the city will have to endure enforcing parking all around nearby Train stations. Call it my personal vendetta against Bronco, at least until I can vote against him.

If you are in a parking spot, and not a pickup spot then I would say yes.

They are going to have to put up signs with the new rules all over the communities nearest to the train stops - that's gotta cost some dough.

I moved out of Calgary 9 years ago after living there for 20 years, and sometimes I miss the place. BS like this cures me of that sentiment though. Condolences to all of you who have to put up with Bronco and his crap.

So what happens now if you go to have a coffee/beer/visit with a friend who lives near an LRT station? Will you get a ticket? Is there a two hour limit? How will that work?

What about the guest parking spots at nearby Townhouse/condo units? How will they know I am not visiting a friend within that complex?

Park at the place you are having coffee/beer etc. Transit spends money on maintaining these lots and has been passing the costs along to everyone who uses the system (less than 1% of them park at train stations) and to taxpayers. Instead they are making the people who use these lots bear the cost instead.
The purpose of the transit parking is for people who ride the train, no so someone living in a nearby apartment complex has unlimited parking.

I live in Scenic Acres in the NW where the new Crowfoot LRT station is going to be opened soon. A part of the development is a rather elaborate system that defines the area that will now require a special parking pass. They are setting how far out the passes are required. So if you park within that boundary without that pass you will get ticketed.
I believe I am outside of that boundary. So I will see if somebody starts to park in front of my place. I am not sure what if anything I will do about that.
