I had a rose delivered to my good friend yesterday. She told me I was a sweetheart and that it was beautiful and that I put a smile on her face. Hearing that made me feel really good especially at a rough time like this when my grandma is living out her final days.

Yeah, I'm single, and my friends would never plan a surprise trip because they're students...

Made the g/f lasagna and caesar salad. She already knew I love to cook, but it seems that spending an hour+ making dinner is impressive to her. Definitely a successful vday. Didn't go blowing $180 on dinner (albertGQ) and absolutely had more than one glass of wine. Bonus: watched the game while eating! Double bonus: she did the dishes...

First Valentine's Day together with the girlfriend. For the record I hate Valentine's Day, still do. If you go back I think I posted my traditional Valentine's Day rant each of the past two or three years here on CP.

My girlfriend also hates the day (apparently she's had bad luck on February 14th). So I wanted to surprise her. She got a card in the mail yesterday, flowers delivered this morning. We planned on takeout and watching a movie. I set up my dining room table with candles, a rose, and a small fudge gift pack. I made sure with plenty of time to pick up Swiss Chalet (which is what she wanted). When I got home I put it in the oven to keep it warm, while I ironed my shirt. Then I smelt a smell that was like melting plastic. Apparently in my haste I just put the take-out still in the plastic containers in the oven on low. For those of us who aren't very good as science, fair warning. Apparently plastic melts. Who knew?!

I then called and re-ordered my food. It was funny the agent taking my call asked for my phone number, then said "hold on" and transfered me to someone else, who asked for my phone number. I told her and she said "ummm we already have an order in the system for you." I replied "ummm yeah, I piked that up already, long story short, I need another order of the exact same thing." She didn't ask questions (if by some freak coinsidence you're reading this Swiss Chalet call centre lady, thankyou).

Long story short, most expensive quarter chicken dinner I ever ate.

Go Valentines Day Go

My husband and I have been married for 5 years...I am someone who enjoys celebrating the holiday.. He is anti V Day. So I think he finally realized how much it meant to me because he got me breakfast in bed this morning and then gave me OILERS tickets to the Sharks game on Tuesday! Whooooooooo! Who needs flowers or candy?

How approriate. With the Oilers recent play, I imagine the score in the game will match the numeric format of Valentine's day (14-2 Sharks).

First V-day with my girlfriend as well. I took the day off work and bailed on my hockey game, she bought a pack of NHL kids valentines, wrote sweet things on 3/4 of them, and the others became clues for this scavenger hunt kind of thing she set up around her apartment. Having to dig through her hockey bag for a bottle of Cap'n Morgan (which is now gone) was quite an experience...

Spent the rest of the day watching movies, then I took her out to dinner and to the Giants game.

Went for dinner at Pulcinella's and then back to my place for a "movie."

On the way, we stopped off at a sex shop, just to see what the big deal was and were instantly creeped out by the 10 or so single men anxiously perusing the video section. We beat our innocent minds out of there pretty quick.

My girl had a really bad cold and bronchitis, so I tried to take care of her. She had relatives coming from Vancouver so I helped get her place organized before they arrived. It was real effing romantic

Actually I think that's quite romantic, but that's just me.

Thats awesome... and essentially what I'm doing tonight for my girlfriend (she worked all day and night yesterday... nurses, what can you do). Except, I'm opting for Gnocchi Bolognese instead of Lasagna... still, another greasy Italian doing what we do best.

Pulcinella's in Kensington. Set menu as well. I could have stayed in and cooked, but it's really nice to just go out and wine and dine.
