Default Anyone bank at US Version of RBC Bank?

I just noticed my account is inexplicably overdrawn by $3400. I've been on hold for over an hour trying to talk to them.

Well, if anyone does bank with them, save yourself the hours on hold. It is a system error that caused lots of money to come out of accounts that shouldn't have(um, yikes!) that they hope to have fixed this afternoon.

Heheh, I know it's technically just ones and zeros in some database/global network, but that is really disconcerting. Doesn't money need to GO some place to be missing? Especially in a digital credit/debit sense? How can it just disappear? (Unless it did go somewhere, you didn't happen to find that out did you?)

Our concept of money has really changed over the last few years. I read somewhere that over 3/4ths of the worlds assets are now for all intensive purposes digital. Just credits and debits...

Oh, by the way, happy Friday the 13th. It's getting started early it looks like.

Pretty sure the vast majority of the world's assets are not digital.

Now, our financial assets on the other hand is another story

Sorry, it appears you know what I meant anyway... Yes, FINANCIAL ASSETS. Or maybe not even financial assets, but recorded, transactionable cash.

Better?

It used to be called RBC Centura, but now appears to just be RBC Bank: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RBC_Centura

It's based in Raleigh, NC, and is, of course, the name sponsor of the Hurricanes' arena (where the Oilers lost the Cup).

RBC is the hole bank that has my mortgage in branson... I am not high on them because they screwed me around at closing.... They had us set up for 30 year fixed rate mortgage and at closing they said we had to change you to a 5 yr ARM..... We had no choice to sign because we had already given the builder 50k in earnest money and had moved in the house because we ended the lease on our apt..... Now they cant even pay my taxes right from escrow... i have had a few problems with them ...

Really? We just closed on our house after moving down here and they were great. The barrister service and our realtors down here were another matter....

We went with them because they will actually use our Canadian credit reports and credit ratings when no one else will.
