Any more "Balls" and we'd probably end up divorced with her getting half of everything (except any debts) and a good portion of my salary...
If I were to force her to watch the media crap, that would mean that I would have to put up with those spoon-fed brainless morons myself and I would rather drown in debt and file for bankruptcy than put up with that!

No, there is nothing more distasteful than family law.

I agree, I would rather put up with my wife's spending habits than have to learn the ugly intricacies of family law the hard way.

Positive sides
Cheap stocks/mutual funds
Cheaper gas
Negative sides
feeling of fear of Alberta being shut down in the summer with no work for any of the O&G companies.
Bored at work with less to do.
No more 0% loan offers. (used to get 1 or 2 a year, which I would gamble on stocks)
I was rather fortunate to have pulled out of the markets before the drop. I re-invested some of it 2 weeks ago. Looks like that might have been too early, but i should be able to dollar cost average throughout the year.

The good:
- bought a condo for dirt cheap
- probably wasn't going to stay at the job I was at anyways
The bad:
- lost my job 6 days after buying the condo
- can't find a new job

Sadly the recession broke into my house last night, now my daughters pregnent and somebody stole my change jar. And I'm pretty sure that it left a gift in the toilet.
Damn recession.

Gas has gone down in price, so it cost less to set myself on fire this afternoon in downtown Calgary

Lost quite a bit of money
Saw the field I'm trying to enter practically disappear (Interior Design. Who wants to renovate when you don't have a job)
On the bright side
I've only got 41 days left of school ever. Woo

I have only been positively affected so far. And by that I mean there are a lot more people on CP during the day because you all lost your jobs. Good for me because most of my days are spent on CP killing time avoiding doing homework. The OT forum is moving so fast the last couple of days.

Cash account down 45%, RRSP's down 60%...
House down ~5 - 10%...
I'm in heavy oil = very nervous about job security...
Fiance is a jr. geo for a tiny O+G producer, got a brand new car in Sept, = very nervous about job security...
Getting married later this = fffffkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkkk (about $$, not her!!)
Havent really noticed anything being cheaper other than labour/drilling rigs/etc. at work. Not many positives...

RRSP's stayed the same
Found a better job in O&G with a slight raise. Just waiting to be laid off by current employer so I can scoop severance and jump over to the owner. Overall Wunderbar..

Opted out on a real estate investment in Vancouver that would have been a real steal out of fear of losing my job... still have my job so for now, it's a big missed opportunity to make some real coin...

I probably won't get co-op students this summer, but that hasn't been determined yet.
My co-worker is incredibly annoying by constantly talking about how the recession is affecting this and that and coming to his own conclusions about what is going to happen.
Other than that I'm doing ok... so far.

A number of people I know or work with have someone close to them, usually a spouse, that have been laid off recently. So far - KNOCK ON WOOD - no one directly related to me has lost theirs.
Luckily I've avoided losing much of my investments because, well, I don't have many investments to begin with. It's kind of an upper-class problem to be complaining about anyway (my riches have been diminished) when there are people out there losing their jobs, their homes, their livelihood. Sucky deal.
On the plus side, there has been no shortage of work for me. In fact, I have probably never been busier. That's to be expected when you make money from misfortune.
