I'll start.

Used to go fishing a lot with my family growing up but frankly we stunk. But we enjoyed ourselves. We'd primarily fish for Pike with a little bit of perch or Walleye thrown in for good measure.

One of my most memorable catches was when I hauled in a pretty good size Pike. Quite the battle to get it into our little aluminum boat, at which time I took out the "bonker" and went to town on the fish.

Figured the thing was dead so i leaned in for a closer look as it laid still on the bottom of the boat. At this point though it had one last breath of life left - which is used to come around with its tail and smack me hard right across the face - knocking me on my ass and darn near out of the boat.

Not a bad way to go out if you're a fish.

I'm a fly fisherman and mostly stick to trout, I've landed a few good ones in my day. Sadly the biggest trout I ever caught was in McKenzie lake when I was about 12.

For me the biggest payoff when landing a trout isn't size but the colors and patterns, I swear few things on this earth are more beautiful than a healthy, vibration brown trout.

Belize is great, I caught a few Bonefish there myself close to Glovers Atoll. Nothing huge but what a rush!!

The people who catch those huge tarpon and marlin amaze me. They must be geniuses or something. I caught a 5' long kingfish on a little pole that you would use at a pond. We were on a drift boat with a bunch of cops/firefighters with only one other woman fishing. She looked like an old sea salt for sure. It was my first time out. I caught the biggest fish, won the pool and had no idea these people took that stuff so seriously.

I caught a sailfish when I was on vacation in Mexico. I have no idea how much it weighed, but it was 8'4" long. It was probably the funnest thing I've ever done in my life.

Probably a coho salmon.

Biggest trout on the fly - a 26" Brown Trout in the Bow River.

Was it "catch and release only." I'm jealous of anyone who's caught a sailfish. Must not only be fun, but a beautiful battle to watch. They are so magnificent.

I would not eat fish caught in the Bow River, downstream of Calgary. The regulations even suggest limiting yourself to eating one per week.

I accomplish this by simply catching very little from the Bow! I just can't figure that bloody river out for the life of me!

I can't say that I have any fantastic fish to add here. I've caught some beauties on the smaller streams in Alberta but its all relative. Also, there was this huge one that I had on the line one day...

I was one of 3 people who caught a 1300 lb bluefin Tuna off North Lake, PEI.

We caught it with Rod & Reel and fought it for 7 hours!

58 lbs Chinook - Skeena River

93 lbs Halibut - Portland Canal, last summer...

My son (six at the time) brought up a 52 lbs Halibut from 300' all by himself on the same trip - took him about half an hour, the only thing I did is have my hand on the butt of the rod in case he couldn't hold it and my other hand through his back belt loop - just in case it decided to head back down and he forgot to let go!

Also on the same trip a bunch of Dolphins kept coming by and trying to get at our fish beside the boat - pretty cool how smart they are - working together to distract us ... Anyways one went down about 250' took my Dad's Herring and shot back up to the top and skimmed across the the top - it took about 200' feet of line in about 10 seconds with the drag so tight I could barely pull line out - I grabbed the rod the power was unbelieveable nothing you could do but watch the line run out - best part is with about 20 yards of line left I just reefed back on the rod the line snapped and only ended up losing maybe 50 yards!

Holy Moly tuna are huge! I figured they were really big fish, but that's bigger than I expected.

Caught a 25 inch pickerel in the Battle River when I was a kid. That's no tuna, but not bad for a pickerel.

I caught a 30 pound salmon at the Skeena river five or six years ago...I really want to go back...we had some great fun fighting those Chinook. We did some ocean fishing a couple years ago out on Vancouver Island, and we caught some more decent salmon, but none as big, or as fun as that Skeena trip was.
