wranglers GDT: Grand Rapids Griffins @ QC Flames - 2/4/09

A month full of home games starts off with a wednesday night showdown with North Division leading Grand Rapids. After winning all 4 games against the Griffins last year, QC is winless in the first 3 matchups this year. This is the final meeting of the two teams.

Grand Rapids has had a lot of player movement recently. At last check, Ville Leino and Darren Helm have been called up to the big club, but Aaron Downey and Justin Abdelkader have been returned.

The Flames roster remains mostly the same as it has for the whole season.

flames lose 3-2.

d. sutter was in attendance, so the guys had a lot more jump, but were unable to win despite outshooting the grifs by a 2-1 ratio.

The Flames seemed to dominate the offensive play, but they outshot the Griffins by putting a ton of low percentage shots on net. It'd sure be nice if we had some more offensive skill to go with our defense. Maybe the puck wouldn't keep ringing off the post and those empty net shots wouln't keep going wide.

Chucko had his pocket picked in the defensive zone giving the griffins the winning goal.

Thats what he gets for being Pretty with the puck and forgot that hes a garbage man not a skilled foward.

He was stapled to the bench after that. He wasnt on the ice for even the empty net try hahaha.

I do believe that I saw Ken King walking down the concourse, trying to be inconspicuous, as well.

Gotta give the guy credit for having the balls to show up....

Had to laugh when I read in today's paper that they don't call up a goal scorer in the QC for something other than a goal scorer in Calgary.

He'd be looking far and wide for a goal scorer in the Quad Cities!! This team's only offensive skill is called "lucky"!!
