Why would the tech support staff, when setting up my cube, place the pc tower directly under my monitor? Do they think that it getting kicked repeatedly with a size 12 is a good thing?

You can always move it. IT get paid to set it up, not set it up egronomically.

So I'm a pretty crappy photographer, but sometimes I read how "if you change the shutter speed you can get this effect on your digital". So I try it and it turns out like crap, but now I can't take normal pictures anymore. Even when I'm sure I've reset what I did and gone back to full auto.
I'm cursed when it comes to photography.

It's not about ergonomics. It's about common sense.
Dude who did this is just lazy. Gave me only a few hours notice that my cube was being moved and that it needed to be done right away because he's busy the next day with some other work.

I really can't stand new year resolution people at the gym. I've been going to the Gym off and on for about 4 years and always maintained a reasonable amount of good shape. Every January it's the same and every January I can't stand it. It's not the volume of people that bother me, if someone really wants to commit to living a more healthy lifestyle who am I to tell them they can't.
It's the people who just aimlessly walk around with no real purpose other than to trick themselves into thinking that if they just show up at the gym that's good enough. These people rarely follow gym edict (wiping down equipment after using it regardless of how much, not wearing potent perfumes and body sprays, not carrying your cell-phone with you and using it, spending a maximum of 30 minutes on cardio machines during peak hours, etc).

Couldn't agree more. Especially when it comes to the perfume thing - which wouldn't bother me under most circumstances. But when I'm already breathing hard on the cross-trainer, sucking back Chanel's latest stinkwater isn't high on my to do list.
Non sequitur.
I've never had an idol before. Well, maybe Theo Fleury when I was like 10. But now I've decided it's Stephen Colbert. That guy is so good at what he does it's just phenomenal. I wish I were him instead of me. Only not as old maybe.

I went to the gym today during busy hours for the first time since coming back to school. Man, tons of people. You think regular gym members are bad? Try freshmen 18 year olds running around the track weaving in and out of people. I was very close to checking one into the wall when he tried to run past me in a non-existent lane.

Try running in the Olympic Oval. It's quieter, fewer punks, the air is cooler thanks to all the ice and cooling systems in the building, and the track is bigger. Just don't tell too many people - it's the U of C's best-kept secret.
The January Resolution Crowd is one of my biggest pet peeves. I have been working out year-round for about 10 years and I always have to make concessions in January to accomodate the influx of well-meaning-but-not-properly-motivated masses of people wanting THIS to be the year they finally lose that spare tire. I would suggest to these people, don't make such a big deal out of it - make it a lifestyle change and start doing it at some random point during the year, with as little fanfare as possible... and then stick the hell with it!
Biggest gym pet peeve by far though is the Workout By Committee - when a group of 3 or more get together and stand around watching each other do sets while spending more of their time talking about Facebook or something. I don't mind waiting to use equipment if people are being expedient and get out of the way, but when I have to ask a group of 7 if they're going to be long and get a "no" followed up by a 10 minute wait... that really grinds my gears!

Why do some people feel the need to talk loud enough so that everyone in the vicinity can hear them? Especially when they're telling some dorky story about how bad they are or how cool they are?? I took the woman to Banff on the weekend and of course, we stopped in at the springs for a soak. We're sitting in the pool, chatting a bit and relaxing, having a good time except for the overbearing voice of some young punk yapping to his lady about how he got taken to the drunk tank. Going on and on about how much he drank that fateful night and how lippy he was to the cop... Ooohhh. You're soooo cool.

This ALWAYS happens when I'm on the phone. Then I tell them to "STFU I'm talking to a client" and they get mad.

You know that close-captioning thing where the script for TV shows pops up when you've got the TV set on mute?
I'll bet they take extra care to make sure the transcription is accurate for Jeopardy. Because if I was a deaf person, I'd be really pissed off to be able to read the questions but not hear what the right answers were.
I wonder if Jeopardy is really popular with deaf people. It's what I'd watch if I were deaf. Unless the close-captioning sucked.
