Default Nemisz on Sportsnet Ontario now

Game halfway through the 2nd. Just a heads up foe those in the Ontario Snet region.

Nemisz with a goal. Soft hands around the net, grabs a rebound brings it to his forehand and buries it.

A goal for Nemisz and an assist on the overtime winner. Thought he had a pretty good game. Big kid who loves to go to the net. Every shift he parks that big body in front and was buzzing around the net for most of the night. Plays on the 2nd line, 1st PP unit and kills penalties. Nothing flashy thats for sure, but just solid play. Did thrown some hits, but thought he could have been more agressive and physical at times. Anyone else watch the game?

I'd say that's an accurate assessment. Always going to the net, soft hands. I thought he made some nice plays along the boards, protecting the puck and then finding an open man.

It was all Nemisz on that OT winner, carried the puck into the zone, lost it, got it back and then found the Russian kid who put it in for the winner.

Overall I came away with the same impression I had of him before the game. Big, strong kid with soft hands. Would be nice to see a bit more of an agressive side to him though.

Hopefully when he adds 30-40 pounds of muscle to his lanky frame the aggressiveness will come?

A lot of big players at that age seem big but they have not grown into their bodies yet?

I don't think he's lanky, but he will probably add more to that 6'4 frame as he gets older.

I echo the comments about Nemisz 8sPot and flamesrule14. I'd like to see him add more aggression to his game, but I think that will come. You only need to look at Pardy and Moss for examples of guys that Sutter and co have turned into more aggressive players.

Nemisz's skating is still a non-issue for me as well... is skating a strong suit, no; is it a hinderance, no as well.

I just know that I am the same size as he is and when I was 18-19 I looked huge but the muscle was all so new that it did not have the strength that the littler guys had. While I was able to use my size (obviously) it was often tricky to really impose my size on those smaller guys (in various sports).

It was not until I was 23-25 that my muscles eally felt like 'grown-up muscles' and I was able to better utilize my size.

I don't know how big you are but from my experience smaller guys overestimate how easy it is for a young 6'4 guy to impose his will on a situation.

Know exactly what you're talking about Claeren. I'm 6'4, and have been since I was 17. I'm 26 now and it takes awhile to grow into that frame, especially for an athlete.

As Nemisz adds more muscle to his body and grows into it he's going to be a physical player. I know that might seem silly to predict but he's not a guy that shy away from the physical game, just doesn't initiate it as much as you'd like. We've seen guys like Regehr and Pardy develop mean streaks under Sutter, and a guy like Moss had an aggressive forechecking game.. so I'm confident that Nemisz will develop that part of his game as well.

I echo much of the same comments about Nemisz. I dont think there is much doubt he'll add some weight which will help, but i don't think it'l help his aggresiveness. However, I think NHL coaching will take care of that.
While I don't see his skating as a hinderence, and quite honestly it was harped on too much during the draft, I think it will have to improve for him to really success at the next level. Its not so much his speed, is his mobility. NOw I know part of this is likely that he is very big for his age, but I think he needs to streamline his stride somewhat in ordere to become more efficient and faster at the next level. I think a summer with a power skating coach to refine his stride would do wonders.
Right now, his skating is fine for major junior, but i don't think its fine for the NHL.
