Default Blackberry GPS

Hey,

I've had my new blackberry for ~ a week or two now. When I use the GPS (built in, BB maps) on several occasions, it picks up someone else. They're obviously in a car, but they don't follow the map. IE: they're driving across Calgary (usually north) at high rates of speed but aren't sticking to roads. I've tried turning off GPS and restarting the program, but when I connect to the satellites, it automatically re-links me with this mystery signal racing across Calgary. Any fixes? Ideas?

That's actually kind of cool. You should see if you can locate this signal.

I hope you're using hyperbole.

GPS chip sounds like it's not working.

GPS doesn't work that way. You don't receive your coordinates from the network, so it can't possibly send you the coordinates for someone else. The GPS unit uses the signals from the visible satellites and determines your position on the Earth, BB Maps uses this info to ask the server to download the maps for the area around your current location. If you're way out to lunch, it would suggest to me that your GPS doesn't have a lock and BB Maps is being fed incorrect information, and therefore asking the server for incorrect map data.

for what its worth, i used BB maps for like 2 days then went with google maps instead. it was very easy to set up with the gps to get it integrated. for me, the bb maps cos per month and google was free, so that helped too!
