With the 111th pick in the CP All-Time Hockey Draft, StrayBullet selects, Ray Liotta.
Ray was always known as a great passer/set-up man for his time in the NHL. His tenures with Detroit, Boston, St. Louis and Washington, were filled with 12 seasons of at least +50 assists, including the 1992-1993 season with 97 and 147 points. Liotta was never heralded or considered for many accolades, but over his 22 seasons he amassed over 1400 career points and played in 5 All-Star games. Not only is he one of the most-underrated Centres/players of all time, but Ray has also starred in many films including the classic, Field Of Dreams and Goodfellas.

I just checked the playbill, it appears as though the role of Ray Liotta is being played today by Adam Oates.

With our next selection team Halifax Explosion is please to pick for our Arena:
The Montreal Forum
This magnificent building is home to the greatest moment in hockey history, May 25th 1989.
Some other team won a few cups there as well.
The Calgary Flames are the only team besides Montreal to win the Stanley cup on the Montreal Forums's ice.

With our next selection team Halifax Explosion is happy to select from NY, New York, 3 time Stanley Cup winner (Cgy, Pit x2):
Joe Mullen
Mullen finally became an NHL regular in 1981–82 when he scored 59 points in 45 games for the Blues. He was traded to the Calgary Flames in 1986 where he enjoyed some of his best seasons, playing in the 1989 and 1990 NHL All-Star game as well as being named to the league first All-Star team in 1989 (he also was the NHL Plus/minus leader that season). He also won his first Stanley Cup as a member of the Flames in 1989. In 1990, the Flames foolishly traded him to the Pittsburgh Penguins for a second round draft pick reasoning that at age 33, Mullen would soon be a spent force. Instead he was an important performer on the Pens' Stanley Cup winning teams of 1991 and 1992. During his time in Pittsburgh, Mullen also played in the 1994 NHL All-Star game. Mullen spent the 1995–96 season with the Boston Bruins as a free agent before returning to play his final NHL season in Pittsburgh in 1996–97.
Mullen played for Team USA at the 1984, 1987 and 1991 Canada Cup tournaments. He also won the Lester Patrick Trophy in 1995 in recognition for his service to American hockey. Mullen retired in 1997 as the first the American born NHL player to score 500 goals(502). Joey was also the first American to reach 1,000 total career points (eventually reaching 1,063), a feat that has been equaled by only six other Americans.
* ECAC First All-Star Team (1977,1979)
* NCAA East First All-Star Team (1978,1979)
* Lady Byng Trophy (1987, 1989)
* NHL First Team All-Star (1989)
* Played in NHL All-Star game (1989,1990,1994)
* Lester Patrick Trophy (1995)
* Inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame (2000)

GOOD PICK
Years ago, I was working at the airport and the Flames sauntered through one evening after a game in Edmonton. Mullen was busy chatting with another player (never noticed who) and about 20 meters behind were Gary Roberts and Joe Nieuwendyk.
The two of them kept yelling, "Mully! Mully!" until Mullen would turnaround. Then they'd do a whole Brooklyn accent schtick, "My name's Joe Muwwen, I come from Bwooklyn, New Yawk." Mullen continued on his way and they began yelling again, "Mully!...."
Poor Joe

Drunk, you suck!!!
I feel bad for everyone who never got to see a live game at the Forum. If buildings could talk...
I only got to see two (the last two) and it was maginificent. Not much to look at from the outside, but once you entered...
All those banners, Stanley Cups and retired #s. All the memories I had from TV, I looked around and could picture all of them. I could go on all night...

We need to bump this thread to a new page, so I don't have Ray Liotta staring at me every time I check someone's latest post.

I would have taken it rounds ago, but I left it up there for you Habby. I actually invisioned taking it, then trading it to you for something so that you'd have it.
Disapointed that you didn't grab it.

I don't blame him for choosing it, more history in that rink than any other one. I am surprised the Dome didn't go first, though.

Yeah, I was gunna say... The Dome might be a sentimental pick, but there's not a lot of history in there, compared to other buildings.

Remember you're picking the arena that your team will play in.
So you definitely want history and atmosphere
Love how the draft is going right now.. I wish there was a way to simulate a league

Technically, it's been over 15 hours.... but I'm going for lunch now, so that should add another hour or two extension. I'll make my pick when I get back.
