Yep, you remember correctly... we also just finished that season
Great episode. I have no complaints at all about it. Resolved a lot of hanging issues and started a key one. Perfect season finale if you ask me.
Vince throwing the phone in an outburst was unexpected and summed up how this season was for him. Ari showing face in the Bronx? WOW!!! haha. And Turtle getting caught having phone sex from his mother, LOL.

I wouldnt have minded seeing Eric and Vince parting ways at the end, but whatever....I still liked it. Scorsese was huge.

Yep, after the episode was done, it said they're currently in production with new episodes airing in the summer.

For what I thought was a so-so season I really liked the ending, good to see Vince finally show some emotion not just say he is going to care but actually be upset when he didn't get the movie he wanted.

Back to NYC. The movie is being shot there. Turtle might stay in LA to be with Jamie.

Good episode, nice holy crap moment with the new job at the end. It was a little too sugary for my liking, though.
Could be some great Drama moments if he's at his restaurant a lot.

I'm just supervised that Ari didn't even blink an eye when he got out of the cab and saw the pub name. There was a few good lines there.

Meh, thats pretty par for the course for this show I think. They've added some definite conflict this year with Vince struggling, but everything usually comes together at the end for these guys. If you're looking for drama, Entourage probably isnt the best bet. But Ari and Drama more than make up for it.
Can't believe I gotta wait till June for new episodes, ugh...

Quick question.
Just started season 1 and one thing is bugging me because I haven't figured it out for sure...
Is Turtle also Johnny and Vince's brother?

No, turtle was just a close friend like Eric, they all grew up together.
I think he was vince's neighbour, but not sure

Well after that god awful season 4 I actually didn't mind this season in some aspects but I also found myself starting to grow a real sour taste in my mouth towards this show.
It was great to see Vince actually having to go through the trials and tribulations of a real actor. I would've loved to see him taking acting classes, doing theatre in queens, really trying to own his craft. With the exception of one scene in the finale with Vince throwing his phone, you just got more crappy acting from Adrian Grennier who seems to only be able to play stoned out mega actor as Vince.
I was super excited for the vince/eric split up and thought it had a ton of promise but instead it smelt of another Doug Ellen Entourage Episode that looks like the ending was created at the last second before it aired. Bill Simmons wrote a great piece on this right after the finale. About just how unimaginable the storys have become and almost an insult to anyone actually in the entertainment/performing arts.
Season one and two had such great promise but since then it's been all downhill IMO

Yeah they are neighbors. They lived next to each other, as seen in the final episode this past season when Turtle's Mom come over to get him during the breakfast scene.

I know its not a popular feeling on this board but Bill Simmons just describes my thoughts to a T on this season
Well, the fifth season of "Entourage" wasn't implausible at all: I can totally see Vince's losing his career after one bad movie (so what if Colin Farrell has made 15 stinkers and keeps getting jobs?), becoming Hollywood poison, getting a job only because his agent passed up a $10-million-a-year studio head position to stay with him -- you know, because agents have such great character -- submarining an elaborate $120 million action movie that somehow came together in about 2.23 seconds because the director hated him (in the irony of ironies, because he didn't think Vince, a guy played by Adrian Grenier, could act), hitting rock bottom and moving back to Queens, then climactically rebounding with the lead in Martin Scorsese's new movie without ever auditioning for it, and while all of this was happening Jamie-Lynn Sigler fell in love with a jobless Turtle, and Johnny Drama starred on an NBC drama that normally would tape for 17 hours a day, unless your show stars Johnny Drama, in which case you tape once a month for a couple of minutes. Awesome. I'd ask for that 390 minutes of my life back, but it's my own fault for watching. I blame myself.

I was watching A.I. last night and laughed when I saw Adrian Grenier as a horny teenager.

Hey hey now, its not all implausible. Those two really are knockin boots .
I think Simmons is putting way too many expectations on the show. If he wants drama, he can watch Heroes, Lost, House, Bones, CSI New York/Miami/Vegas, Terminator, Fringe, The Unit, Criminial Minds, Law & Order, ER, etc etc etc. Just accept the show for what it is, or don't watch it. I agree that I could see it being done in a much darker tone, and that it can be pretty fluffy and predictable at times. But I'm fine with that. I dont watch that show for drama, I watch it because its half an hour of hangin with the boys, hearing the hilarious back-and-forth banter(arguably the most quotable show on TV right now), and especially laughing at the ridiculous situations Drama & Turtle, and Ari manage to land themselves in. It's fun TV. Simmons is putting way more thought into the show than it deserves.

I finally caught up with this show... think it's great. The dynamic between Ari and Lloyd is hilarious. I thought this 5th season was pretty good and I agree the 4th was a bit weak.
I'll have to look up this Bill Simmons article, but the studio anxiety around Vince post-Medellin was more than the fact that it was a bomb. He bailed out of Aquaman 2, he was turning down jobs (the modelling gig for example), he had switched agents, burned Harvey, etc. And the fact that he bullheadedly pursued Medellin when other studios had passed probably wouldn't sit well with those studio chiefs. It's not like he just made one bad film.
Also, while it may be implausible that Ari would turn down the studio head position, it's not impossible. At the end of the day Ari, despite his bluster, is a deeply caring and loyal guy. He wouldn't pimp Lloyd for millions, he begged for his kid to get into that school, etc. And the idea to put Dana in as head is in many ways the best of both worlds. He gets to control her with respect to Vince's career at Universal and gets to stay loyal to Vinnie (whose success is ultimately a reflection of Ari's success).
Both reasons are also why I love the show. Although it's very "bro" oriented (bro-riented?), it's always quite subtle. Character development is really well done and nuanced... and makes for believable writing. For example, I love that Vince's laissez-faire attitude was ultimately exposed as a kind of egotism when the success went away. He was Mr. Casual only because he had everything he could want.
And Kevin Dillon is magnificent as Johnny Drama. He kills me.
Oh, and Scorcese with an adaptation of Gatsby... that would be a dream come true. Awesome way to get back on top.
