As of now, I'm leaning towards the PS3. Mostly because of the backwards compatibility.

According to Microsoft the Xbox 360 will be "backward-compatible with top-selling Xbox games."

It's starting to look like I'll be waiting a year to decide which one to get. If I was loaded or if I planned to play the majority of my games on console I'd get both but I'm neither so I'll only be getting one. It depends on what titles each system has. I've heard that Playstation wrestling games blow away Xbox wrestling games so that's part of the reason why I want to wait.

That's true, though the real profits aren't in the consoles but in the games.

Nintendo is a consistent money maker, and their market share has been going down for a long time but that's to be expected when you start out with 100% market share I don't think they're in trouble, though they could use a shot in the arm market share wise.

I'm usually the type to buy a console the second it's out but I think I'm going to wait it out. Depends on the launch.

Lol speaking of launches, Nintendo is supposed to have their E3 coverage this morning at 11:00am our time, and there was a countdown clock on the site.

Well it's counted down, now it just says "undefined is here!".. d'oh! Some webmaster is going to get a talking to.

I read an interesting thread the other day about Nintendo. People were slagging Nintendo because it was third place and it had fallen so much.

A person wrote in saying that Nintendo had always been about good fun games, for over 50 years or whatever. While gaming was a niche market they dominated. Now that gaming is no longer a niche market but a giant multi-billion dollar industry Nintendo has gone back to the niche gaming. No surprise really when you think about it that way. As with anything, the broad low denominator stuff is the most popular, and Sony has capitalized on that with a bunch of enjoyable but ultimately typical games. Nintendo meanwhile continues to innovate and come up in fun interesting ideas as the always have. The person argues that Nintendo really has not lost any market share at all, the ardent gamers stick with Nintendo while the swelled market has gone to the bigger platforms.

I personally haven't really had any fun on a PS game since Tony Hawk 2. The sports games are okay, I'm not hugely into the squaresoft stuff or the splinter cell stuff.

The PS3 controller looks like the stupidest thing ever invented.
Exaggerate much?

It just looks like a stretched and skewed PS2 controller... [/b][/quote]
Of course I'm exagerating. Wait to figure it out. So what?
The point is that it's a ridiculous looking controller.

I'd rather it felt good and controls well. Who cares about how it look.

That's true, but it seems like it would be difficult to hold and use. I guess time will tell.
And although looks don't make too much difference, alot of people do care, especially the Japanese market.

ING's Direct comparison.

I have an Xbox right now and looking at the Specs the two arn't too far off. Looks like Sony is going to banking on the periphials with 7 USB ports both look like they will have iPod compatability (cossing fingers that I don't have to reformat from Mac). Son'y HD size is undetermined and Microsoft is going with a 20 Gig removable. Also it is nice that both are going to be backwrds compatible. I am still undecided and will wait a month or two before getting a new Xbox. There will still be fans of both.
