With our sixth round selection, Team Sequoia is proud to select, in the Comedy (Open) Category, Whose Line Is it Anyway?

From Wikipedia:
Quote:
Whose Line Is It Anyway? (abbreviated to Whose Line? or WLIIA) was a short-form improvisational comedy TV show. Originally a British radio programme, it moved to television in 1988 as a series made for Britain's Channel 4. Following the conclusion of the British run in 1998, ABC began airing a version for the United States audience.

The show consisted of a panel of four performers who create characters, scenes and songs on the spot, in the style of short-form improvisation games. Topics for the games were based on either audience suggestions or predetermined prompts from the host. Both the British and the American shows ostensibly took the form of a game show with the host arbitrarily assigning points and likewise choosing a winner at the end of each episode.
I'm not as familiar with the UK version, I've only seen a few episodes of it, but I loved the US version, with Drew Carey as the host. The combination of Wayne Brady, Colin Mochrie and Ryan Stiles was hilarious in my opinion, and I fully enjoyed both Greg Proops and Brad Sherwood as the fourth comedian.

One of my favourite segments was called "Hoe Down" done near the end of the show...here's a few good ones I found on Youtube:

Going Bald:

You're Ugly

Drunk Mother

Nice choice. Never failed to deliver plenty of laughs.

The UK version was good too as Stiles and Mochrie were on it a lot, but the addition of Drew Carey made the US version superior.

Great stuff!

MissTeeks made 2 World picks so I've put the latest one into wildcard #1.

Any mistakes let me know.

Forget about the remarks about MissTeeks making 2 World picks, I messed up the board.

In an attempt to distance myself from Barnes' team, please rename my team "Team Alternate Feed". Thanks!

I loved both versions of Whose Line? My favourites tended to be the ones where something went wrong, the time when Ryan Styles broke the light on the desk when he threw his head into it, or when the pre programmed song in the keyboard started picking up the tempo for some reason while Wayne was singing to it, or the ones where the audience members were asked to provide the soundeffects and they were always terrible about it, or the one where Wayne picked up a female audience member and ended up pulling up her skirt by accident. Great show, loved Drew Carey!

^^^ one of my favorite Whose Line mishaps is when they did "Title Sequence" and took a suggestion from the audience that the sequence should be about Bill Cosby & Hitler. One of the producers (im guessing) came over to Drew and told him he couldn't do it, so they switched it to Bill Cosby and an insurance salesman.

Throughout the rest of the show, Drew referenced the Hitler thing over and over again to much hilarity.

Here's the incident, starts about 1:30 in.

But then, the Hoe Down at the end, after everyone else has sung theirs, Ryan Stiles does his, then adds 2 other ones, all three referencing the underwear incident.

^^Yeah, that's the one. I remembered the hoe down about it as well. I remembered mostly Drew's reaction though, his laugh is so contagious. That woman was really good about it, too.

Looks good to me. Just a couple of changes I can see.
Barnes' (5-99) pick should be Quincy, M.E.
For Bobblehead (1-4), Cincinatti should be spelled Cincinnati.

Also, after the brouhaha over Comedy-Sitcom vs. Comedy-Open, wasn't HD's pick of Family Ties allowed to be moved back to Open? I can't remember and I can't find it in the thread right now.

See the post at http://forum.calgarypuck.com/showthr...87#post1509987 plus post #326 and #329 for the initial ruling.

Here's the one where Ryan breaks the light on the desk with his head:

^I remember that one!^ Too funny! When I decided to make this my pick, I spent ages on YouTube going through clips and found them just as funny now as I did when I first watched them. It's just too bad only the first season has been released on DVD (and I'm not sure if it's the entire season either ). It's a show I could watch over and over again.
