Does Sandro go to the NFL now?

Great game by Sandro and it will look really impressive on his resume that he hit his longest shot of the season in the Grey Cup.

The question I have is whether he will jump down to the NFL for a shot as I believe his contract is up or he is in his option year.

I'm thinking he does and I wish him the best in doing it. I LOVED his post game interview and I really do think that he could be effective in the NFL.

Well I hope he is back because he is the best kicker in the league by far but I think he will get his opporunity down south.

Have no reasoning behind this, just think he'll sign with the Stamps long term. Be the next Mark McLaughlin for this team.

I don't think so.

There hasn't been a long list of CFL kickers going down to the NFL and having success and as good as Sandro has been he hasn't been heads and shoulders above others that have played.

He may want to give it a shot but my guess is that he plays most of his career up here and ends up one of the top CFL kickers of all-time.

Sandro has said he hasn't gone the NFL route yet cause his wife/fiance (can't remember which) is in nursing school (I thnik it was) in the area. He's waiting till she finishes before he looks at the NFL.

Yeah he did, but I'm not exactly sure for how long.

I believe the rule is if a CFLer is in the last year of his contract, he is free to bolt to the NFL. If not, he's stuck in Canada.

no disrespect to sandro, but hitting a 50 yard field goal in a dome has to be almost "routine" in the NFL. I don't know if sandro has the leg. Who knows, maybe I'm wrong.

I think his contract extension was through 2009. But it looks like he is considering going to the NFL if there's an opportunity

With the numbers he has put up this season -- especially if he wins a Grey Cup Sunday -- he could be a hot commodity in the NFL next year.

Sandro didn't want to talk much about what might happen, but clearly wants to try his hand in the U. S.

"It's a touchy subject. I'm trying for the NFL after the season is over, but it's something I haven't really announced," he said. "It's about timing and finding the right opportunity. We'll see what happens after the game is over.

"I'm happier than you would ever know playing in the CFL, but as an athlete you always have that voice telling you, 'What's next?' It's the same voice I've heard since I was four years old," he said.

Nothing in the NFL from 45+ yards is routine. There are a handful of kickers that make it look automatic at times (Vinateri/Longwell/Kaeding etc) but its a different game kicking in the US than in Canada. Thats why you rputinely see blocked FG's in American ball while its a rarity in Canada.

Nothing in the NFL from 45+ yards is routine. There are a handful of kickers that make it look automatic at times (Vinateri/Longwell/Kaeding etc) but its a different game kicking in the US than in Canada. Thats why you rputinely see blocked FG's in American ball while its a rarity in Canada

50+ FG's are not easy. Most kickers won't even attempt

To put it in perspective, Vinateri is probably regarded as the most clutch, and perhaps best kicker in NFL history. He hit a 51 yarded to win the game last night.

In his career, he was 9/20 from FG's of greater then 50 yards. (At least thats the stat that came up on TSN before the kick)

He would be silly not to....money isnt everything but he would be making at least 6 times as much as he is in Canada.

I dont know his exact salary, but i woud guess it is no more than 50K a year and thats the high end.

The lowest paid K in the NFL this year makes 302K. Most make over 1 million and lots over 2 million.

Its not only the salary that is better in the NFL. For each season he plays in the NFL he'll get 5.5k towards his NFL pension which he can start collecting at 55. I think the pros out wiegh the cons by a fair bit and by playing it right and getting into the right situation he covers all his bases and is set for life. I read somewhere that its also protected and even OJ simpson is collecting his pension of $28,000 a year and its protected from his wrongful death lawsuit.

After working with Sandro this year.. I'd love to see him succeed in the NFL. He is having a baby soon however. So not sure what that does for his plans as well.
