Ah, I was so slow on the uptake on that reference. For what it's worth, Hedwig is probably more masculine than the male leads in the other musicals I was considering.

I'm guessing since it's been 24 hours since Czure picked, REDVAN has been AK'd? I'm going to go then!

With the final Wildcard selection and her final pick in the draft, Team MissTeeks selects the Mark Walhberg remake of The Italian Job.

Just another guilty pleasure movie for me. I love the Mini-Cooper chase scenes and Seth Green is my favorite part of the whole movie. And Edward Norton makes a totally great sleezeball in this movie. The story was he didn't even want to make the movie but he was contractually obligegated because of a movie deal with Paramount so maybe that's why he plays such a great jerk! Not the greatest acting or the greatest script and the original is better, but I still enjoy this movie.

My favorite scene with Seth Green:

Opening Heist

Almost at the end, eh...

With their fourth and final Wildcard pick Sequel: Part Deux is exhilarated to select the nauseating French film Irreversible (2002).

"You're behaving like an animal - even animals don't seek revenge."

This is just a disgusting, deplorable film that I saw once and never again. It features a raw, extended rape sequence at its center in addition the most realistic scene of graphic violence I have ever seen (this involving a fire extenguisher - those of you fortunate enough to have experienced this movie will certainly agree on the convincingness of the scene). The storyline employs a similar device to the one in Chris Nolan's Memento (2000) - going backwards; as opposed to allowing details to gradually reveal themselves, though, in this case the gimmick is used in order to underline the irrepairable harm done to the story's main characters. It also calls for the end credits to roll at the beginning of the film, and the most grotesque 'climactic' parts also necessarily occur early on. The entire film is shot using a very 'dynamic,' shaky/rotating/spinning camera - hence the nausea. I think that's about all I have to say.

Moncia Belluci and Vincent Cassell star.

Things are starting to look good for my final pick being available. It's a movie I should've picked 10 rounds ago!

Sorry for the AK guys, I was not checking this since it got moved to the contest and cations sub forum.

For my final pick, in the 20th round, I'd like to take Home Alone in the wildcard. This was one of my favorite movies as a kid and skill gives me a chickle when I watch it. Since it's the season again, I might take a night here and watch it again!

Well... good enough I guess.

It's Just a Flesh Wound would like to take a moment to thank all of the fellow GM's in this excellent draft. This has been a whole lot of fun and everyone deserves major congratulations for their efforts here. Finally, i would like to thank GirlySports for coming up with this unique concept and for running the show perfectly.

So for our final pick in the CP Movie Draft, IJAFW goes with the best player available in the Sports category. We are actually very surprised that this one is still on the table so late. Without further ado we take the horse racing underdog story,

Seabiscuit (2003)

Some might say that this movie is overly sentimental and perhaps it is but it's still a darn fine story with thrilling horse racing scenes. I'm really happy to be able to complete our team with such a winning competitor as Seabiscuit.

Nice pick Jagger. One of Chris Cooper's finest pieces of work, IMO.

Well, I was just going to PM my final pick to Girly Sports as my son and I are headed up to the beautiful metropolis of Manhattan, KS for my first college football game in 23 years and his first ever. Then I realized, I have the LAST pick, known as Mr. Insignificant in the NFL draft, so there will be nobody waiting to pick!

So, I will wait til I get home tonight to post it, provided Stray Bullet has made his choice by then. I can assure you, it won't be an insignifcant film!

With the 539th pick in the CP Movie Draft, StrayBullet selects, Hard Boiled, starring Chow Yun-Fat. Hard Boiled was directed by John Woo. Hard Boiled will fulfill the Action criteria.

With the final pick in the greatest draft in CP history to date, The Team With No Name is proud to select as our 4th wildcard, Sling Blade!

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0117666/

Written, directed and wonderfully acted by Billy Bob Thornton Sling Blade is a masterpiece in the truest sense of the word. There is nothing wrong with this film. Great script, story, characters, cinematography, music and casting. The film contains no cheap, audience grabbing tricks. There is no unlikely love story, no heartwarming fake moments just honesty. There is no sugar coating. That's not to say the film is totally depressing, it's just honest.

Billy Bob Thornton is brilliant, both physically (his transformation is all natural) and as an actor. The movie also contains great supporting performances from John Ritter, Lucas Black (when he was still a cute little kid!), the late great J.T. Walsh and the always on Dwight Yoakum. A must see if you haven't!

Man, I miss J.T. Walsh

Thumbs up

So, that's the end, is it? Just ResAlien and doozwimp left for their missed picks. Lots of great films chosen, even in the last round. Lots of great films left that haven't been chosen.

Looking at the list, I did some calculating...At this point there have been 554 films chosen. Of those, my team is the only one of which I've seen every pick. There are two teams of which I've seen 16 of their 20 picks, one team of which I've only seen 6. For most of the teams, I've seen a little more or a little less than half.

All tolled, I've seen 302 of the 554 films, or 54.5%. Since the draft began, I have watched 11 of the chosen films for the first time.

Also, some stats for Hot Buttery Topping...
  • Earliest film released: Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs (1937)
  • Latest film released: FUBAR (2002)
  • Films by decade:
    • 1930s - 1
    • 1940s - 2
    • 1950s - 0
    • 1960s - 1
    • 1970s - 3
    • 1980s - 7
    • 1990s - 4
    • 2000s - 2
  • Number of Oscars: 30
  • Number of Oscar Best Picture nominees: 9
  • Number of Oscar Best Picture winners: 3
  • Total North American Box Office gross (unadjusted for inflation, including re-releases): $1,726,523,310
  • Highest grossing film (North America, including re-releases): The Exorcist ($232,671,011)
  • Lowest grossing film: FUBAR (no data available)

Thanks to GirlySports for organizing and running this great draft. Good work by all the other GMs, who all put together some excellent teams.

Thanks! I realized that it was going to be my final pick soon after I chose the previous two. There were like 40 picks to go to get back to me. I was worried.

Can't believe it made it to me actually!

I could do another 10 wildcards, but at some point I think the quality would see a steep dropoff.

Thanks to Girly Sports for some awesome ideas and administration and to all of the active participants (which for this draft was everyone). There are a lot of movies for me to watch now!

I was wondering to myself how long it would take me to take this draft list and watch every pick from The Good, The Bad and The Ugly to Sling Blade. That would be a fun project!
