I am getting the Nokians put on my Mazda 3 tomorrow from Kal-tire, the tires that the car came with should be illegal, they are crap on wet pavement let alone ice and snow.

Winter tires are made out of a different compound than all seasons, which stays more pliable when it is -20C outside. Guess how well your all seasons stop on (supposed) dry pavement in those conditions? And you know as well as anyone that even though there is no actual snow on the road, Hwy 2 can easily ice up in places.

I get it alright.

But hey, if you think i need them that bad, why don't you send me a cheque to cover the cost of new tires and rims.

Deal?

ITs not really THAT much more expensive... You have 2 sets fo tires, but they will last twice as long..

Getting back on track - Mango - I always find that Tire Rack's survey is a good guide for evaluating whether one tire is a better than another. I'd have a look at the survey, put together a list of potentials and phone around some tire shops to price em out.
