Default Is CP Slower...

...or is it just me? I find a lot of the time it takes a while for it to load up compared to how it use to and I don't notice it with any other sites.

Was CP moved to a new server? Am I just going crazy? Help I need my CP and not at 56K speed

During games and other very high usage times it is getting slower, just a result of the site growing. I've got some optimization things lined up to try, but the big thing will be to get more memory into the server. I've figured out what kind we need so that should hopefully happen soon.

Sweet! I just wanted to make sure it wasn't my connection, etc.

Thanks photon and everyone for your hard work around here! CP Rocks!

Wasn't just you...at about 5:45 tonight or so it got really slow for me...I got an error twice, saying that the server was busy or something and to try again later. It took a few minutes, but I was eventually able to get on.

Actually those are different and I'm not quite sure what's causing those. At about 10:30am or so, and again at about 5:00pm, all the apache services just go dormant, I can look at TOP in linux and they're all there, but none are doing anything. It stays that way for about 2-3 minutes, and boom they're all back!

Very strange, I guess I should check the apache logs.

This may be a bit of a sensitive subject, but how are donations coming? Do you guys need help with any of this stuff? I mean I know ram isn't the most expensive thing on the planet, but if everything comes out of the same pockets all the time, it can add up I'm sure.

I don't see the financial side of things so that'd be a question for Bingo, you might want to PM him.

Well, didn't CP as a whole donate to pay for the last upgrade?

Yup, there was a donation drive to purchase the server that we're running on now. I don't think we need anything like that now though.

Well, I'd ask Bingo, but I have no idea as to the specifics of what you need.

Isn't a CP member one of the guys that looks after the technical side of the server itself?

Oh, in this case I think we're just going to add 4GB of RAM to the server. Not a huge expense.

I was talking with teamchachi tonight, he's the one that installed the OS and knows the most about Linux and helps take care of that side of it, and he was watching the stats tonight to make sure, and he's pretty convinced that that should address the slowness we're seeing, that in combination with some software changes we can make.

It is just normal RAM or a different type?

It's server RAM, so it has to be ECC buffered type stuff.

A bunch of changes were made to the server so we'll see what it's like after the next loss, hopefully not too soon.

Is this still an issue?
