OK...so even if its 4 big macs...would that not seem excessive for an appetizer? Even split by two people...hell even 4?

2,000 calories are pretty much a days intake for most I would think.

Haha I used to work at Outback and trust me we had people polishing these things off by themselves all the time. The funniest was when young (17) girls would come in and act like "oh Im not going to get a whole meal I just want those cheese fries" as if they are somehow eating light.

These are articles I could live without reading, honestly. I would rather just enjoy the food on those rare occasions I go out to eat, instead of just thinking about how many calories I am taking in. I would rather live in blissful ignorance.

Also FWIW Men's Health (Dec. 2007) had an article "The First Annual 20 Worst Foods in America" and listed the Outback Steakhouse Aussie Cheese Fries with Ranch Dressing the #1 worst food.
I actually found the magazine:

2,900 - Calories
 182g - Fat
240g - Carbs

edit:

And the online article: http://www.menshealth.com/20worst/worstfood.html

Which you can do as you go out on the rare occassions. I know people that knock back one or two of those types of appetizers or main courses a week.

25g protein <---this surprised me!

http://snltranscripts.jt.org/05/05btaco.phtml

We take a crunchy, all-beef taco, smother it in nacho cheese, lettuce, tomato and our special southwestern sauce. Then we wrap it in a soft, flour tortilla with a layer of refired beans in-between.

Jason: Sweet!

Announcer: Then we wrap that in a savory corn tortilla with a middle layer of Monterey Jack cheese.

Andy: Awesome!

Announcer: And it gets even awesomer, when we take a deep-fried gordita shell, smear on a little of our special "guacamolito" sauce and wrap that around the outside.

Bill: [ trying to hold this mighty taco ] This is pretty big..

Announcer: But it gets even bigger! Because we bake it in a corn husk filled with pico de gallo, then then wrap that in an authentic Parisian crepe, filled with egg, gruyere, merguez sauage and Portobello mushroom.

Jason: [ getting restless ] Can I eat in now?

Announcer: Sure. But not before we take the whole thing and wrap that in a Chicago style deep dish meat lovers pizza!

Andy: Pizza? Now that's what I call a taco!

Announcer: Well, it's not a Taco Town taco until we roll it up in a blueberry pancake, dip it in batter and deep-fry it until it's golden brown. Then we serve it in all commemorative tote bag filled with spicy vegetarian chili. It's 15 great tastes all rolled into one.
