Good Old Games
apparently GOG is now in public beta, and I was wondering if any had any experiences with it.
Other highlights, They've got Freespace 2! I've played the original Freespace and Silent Threat, and apparently Freespace 2 is even rated higher than the original.

Yes! I loved how there was a tactical element as well as the strategic, and the heroes you could hire, and the world-spells you could cast, and being able to customize your ruler. I wish someone would remake it all prettified up and with an AI that wasn't as dumb as paint.
If you have Civ 4 there is a mod for it called Fall from Heaven which is somewhat like MoM, it's very good and well worth a few late nights playing.

I so wish this service had some Mac offerings. I'd be playing Fallout2 right now if they did.
Heh, I was one of the weirdo's that had a clan in Freespace2. It was such a lame multiplayer game and yet I must have spent hundreds of hours playing it.
I'm still waiting for a sequel to the storyline...

Starcon 2 has to be one of the best old games ever, in fact I'm going to see if I can download it somewhere.

I'm waiting for Planescape Torment to be re-released in some usable format. I cannot find a copy anywhere of it.

I still have my original copy with all 4 discs, installed it again last year and played it through so I know they work. You could borrow it if you REALLY want to play it again.
*** PC version

I've heard this from a few people but I don't know anything about the game.
Does it stand the test of time? If I played it now, would it be fun or is it something that is best for nostalgia?

I recently reinstalled both games in anticipation of the imminent release of Fallout 3, and while the graphics most definitely look dated (FO1 came out in 1997, FO2 in 1998) the gameplay and story are still as awesome as they ever were. Neither game is exactly noob-friendly, but once you get into it its nearly impossible to put down.

The part about old games thatI wish I could go back to is having the time to play them!
