That was my idea. I was hoping for massive lines and a work entrance around 11. Stupid voter apathy ... i was only 10 minutes late!

Really?? Wow, you must have lived a sheltered life to think that that website is the most repulsive thing you have ever seen. It has two ads on it
1) Showing the old Steve (this is the Steve I like), the saber rattling Steve, the one who wanted to go to war in Iraq, the Steve that refused to cut and run in Afghanistan and;
2) It shows Steve's economic policies. They are similar to George's.
Maybe I am not clear, are you repulsed by Steve's policies or the actual website?

I'd say all told there was about 20 people who were either leaving, voting or arriving while I was there. For 7:40AM on a work day, that probably isn't bad. I wouldn't want to be there from 4:30-7:30 though.

They've take some of the content down. It used to contain outright slander and lies.

I just went and voted, but I think my ballot was spoiled thanks to the bright election worker. She passed me my ballot without any instruction. I walk behind the voting station and fill out my ballot. I finish and start walking back to the table. The lady watches me and makes eye contact as I put the ballot in the box.
As I turn to walk away she says to me, "You know you were supposed to give the ballot to me first so I could rip off part of it." I asked her if that meant the ballot was spoiled. She said she wasn't sure but that it probably was. I asked her to give me another ballot then, since she clearly had not told me what to do. She told me she couldn't do that. I started reaming this lady out because not only had she not told me that I needed to get this part ripped off, but she had also watched me walk up and place it in without saying anything. I was enraged.

My guess is they'll count your ballot. Unless one of the scrutineers is a ###### and objects, which isn't too likely. As long as it's clearly marked, and can't be identified as belonging to you, they're pretty willing to count every vote.

This should be an interesting vote.

Be wary of that Kang fellow as well, his brother pulled the same strong arm tactics for our MLA position. Only 2 choices in the NE riding independent conservative or NDP.

OMG that would piss me right off. Sometimes I wonder of some of these volunteers go and try and do what they can to get votes spoiled.

If Shory's as good of a politician as he is a lawyer, then you're in for some fun in the NE!

Campaigning is over. Everyone who is able to needs to go out and vote. I don't really care who you vote for, but at least go out and make the damn effort to vote.
I can't believe some people don't bother. Basic human rights require that you at least cast a ballot. Do it, or don't whine and complain about what you get.

For the record, those folks are not volunteers. They are getting at least $8 for a day's work.

I think they make more like $200-300 for the full day, plus previous orientations... it works out to roughly $10-15/hr

If everyone has done some research, I am thinking not a chance that Shory win's this - could go to the Liberals though.

Sorry, I knew they got paid but for some reason I think of them as volunteers. Wasn't sure what they received for pay though.
Thanks for that info.

For argument's sake, it's more likely that you'll be hit by a bus on the way to the polling station than your vote making a difference in the election.
As some of the public choice people in this thread could attest to, it's more rationale for you to stay home and not vote as it's more in your own personal interest to do so.

I voted before heading to school. Exciting. Should be doing AutoCAD right now but I digress....

Went and voted... only used an hour instead of my allotted 3 hours of time-off... I should have extended it a bit more.
Anyways, it was quick, was the only one there in the gymnasium and only took 5 minutes. Would have been 1 minute if the old ladies would have stopped gabbering/gossiping to each other for 4 minutes while I was standing right there.

Sorry if this was covered earlier in this thread but is anything but a clear vote considered a spoiled vote? I want to have my vote counted in a category but not for any of the candidates. Do they show spoiled votes as a percentage at the end of the night. Hope that makes sense. What are my options for exercising my right without voting for any of the party options?

No. You can reject your ballot by telling the person who gives it to you that you reject because you have no other options. Then it gets counted as a rejected ballot.

Help! Anyone know where to vote in Calgary West? The search function doesn't seem to be working for me on the Elections Canada website...
