Default Stamps fined

Is it just me or does the CFL (at least historically) have some of the worst refereeing in professional sports? Sometimes they don't even know the rules! It's crazy. I did not see the play however, anyone have thoughts on this?

What rules is it that they don't even know?

If you're referring to the onside kick they got that call 100% correct. Either the ball or the man has to land inbounds and neither did.

These two quotes are gems:

Quote:
It's more motivation, that nobody cares about us except the guys in that locker-room.
Really? What does that say about your fans? Although as a Rider fan I couldn't agree more.

We were going into score and one of the (officials) on the sideline turned around and tried to hype up the crowd.
This is one of the stupidest things ever said by a human. I'm sure the ref was pumping up the crowd a la what defensive players often do.

No.
The stupidest thing you have ever heard from a human was the official who said he saw Armour intentionally hammer that other official - causing his early wrongful ejection in a game they lost.
Was that ome against the Riders too?
If so, then have we seen two games won by the Riders were swind aided by deliberately incompetant officiating this year?

As a Stampeder fan, I can admit that the call on the field was correct, the reaction by the players was over-the-top and would have been over-the-top even if the call was wrong, and the punishment was fair and even-handed; a suspension, as many Riders fans were calling for, would have been way out of line with any suspension the league has handed down in the past.

I think the only obviously bad call was the missed pass interference on Rambo.

Man I hate it when people make comments like this.
I've got a friend who is on his way to reffing in the CFL (currenlty does a lot of colts, highschool, and university, and is a ball boy at the Stamps game) and those guys put in a lot of time and effort.

It's a fast game and they can't get evertying right in a split second, but trust me, no matter what you think, these guys know the rules better than you do.

about time someone actually said that.. I ref as well and I would like to see some people try and ref even a bantam of peewee game. A lot of new officials actually stop because of how much is involved with officiating even at the lowest levels.

The guys were actually were ticked off about this call and the onside kick ruling sure did not help. Yes I believed Browner touched the ball last and he landed out of bounced BUT the question now was he pushed out of bounds? The replay was inconclusive so I can't really tell. If he was pushed out of bounce after he touched the ball then it should be Calgary's ball BUT if I can't tell from the replay if he gets pushed or not, then I can't really blame the referee for missing it.

CFL's referees makes mistakes and so as the NFL referees and the rest of the sporting events in this world. They are not perfect.

As for the fines, I guess there is no excuse for Browner, Anderson and the coach's action. Like Huffer said after the game, the refs are off-limits and I agree. I cannot blame the guys also because they were mad at what happenned especially Browner. I think Dwight Anderson was more ticked off at himself for not catching that interception.

The calls though fuzzy at the time ended up being correct. I don't recall a game where we've seen 2 situations like that where the coaches and refs had a hard time figuring it out.

That said, some Stamps players overreacted and got fined. Time to move on.

Big game on Monday!
