I'd bet that pretty much all of the people who support this party have never actually had the pleasure of living under a communist society.
Communists are not the same as Marxist-Leninists.
I have no idea on their current platform, but I have researched them in the past for school ( I think it was technically a different party then ) and it is pretty much just NDP with a heaping scoop of government ownership and then topped with some overspending and increased taxes for the wealthy.
Still a waste of a vote in my eyes, but to each his own.

We all know what Marxism-Leninism leads to. Anyone who believes in this crap has been spending a little too much time reading theory instead of learning from history.

Uhh what?
Are you trying to imply that all communism leads to dictatorships?
If you want some compelling arguments (and pounding fists and swear words) against communism, ask someone who lived "the dream".
I'm one of those "dreamers". Those crapbags had me drawing commie propaganda posters at the age of 5 when they saw i had some artistic talent. i just thought i was drawing pretty doves.
Why are they running in a democratic election. Shouldn't they be trying to stir up the working class while trying to incite a violent revolution against the government
Marxist-Leninists running in an election is like expecting Freddie Prinz junior to win an Oscar.

I've actually had the opportunity to sit down and talk with alot of people who have lived / do live under Mao, Stalin, Lenin, Tito and Casto.
Dictators are scary, no doubt - Stalin was NOT popular. Lenin wasn't popular either. Mao wasn't popular, but not as widely hated. Tito is/was quite popular and there is a substantial group of people of all ages and wealth that want to see a return to Tito's rule. (He quietly was a dictator, but did not align with the Soviets so he did get alot of support from the Western World including USA.) As for Casto, from what I can tell, the Cubans love him but who knows.

It says "Name under which the Communist Party of Canada is registered for electoral purposes". There's even the old hammer and sickle in the logo.
Yes, they are communists, but not fascist/totalitarian communists as we found under Stalin or Mao.
Some in this thread have said one inevitably leads to the other. And that may well be true based on the fact that we are monkeys primarily motivated by fear and greed.
However, 200 or 300 years from now Kirk and Picard will be able to return to earth with its world-wide democratic communist government where people work hard to better themselves, for a feeling of accomplishment and the pride of contributing to society.
I'd bet that pretty much all of the people who support this party have never actually had the pleasure of living under a communist society.
I used to work with a Russian girl who said that if there was a communist party in her riding she'd vote for it. Although, from what I can tell about how she talked about her parents, she was part of the "priviledged" in Russia (travelled extensively during communism, parents are quite wealthy, etc.)
