Has anyone ever used these services to sell stuff?

I've got some furniture/appliances that I want to get rid of and I want to do it as easily as possible -- I'm not shipping anything anywhere and I don't want to set up a paypal account or anything like that. I want someone to come pick it up and give me cash.

Money is not the major concern. Ease of transaction and getting it out of my house are the main things. The real easiest thing would probably be to give it away, but I'm going to try to get 500 bucks out of it, so I'll give it a shot.

So, which one is the easiest one to use?

On a related note, any furries on the board?

I've used Craigslist a few times and it works fine, kijiji is about the same from what I can tell. They're both quite easy to use.

Both are annoying because you usually get a bunch of calls but most never actually show up, so I tend to not commit to a sale over the phone.

Craig's List worked for me. I don't know about the other. I just specified that the buyer had to pick the stuff up.

I've used Craigslist and Kijiji to both buy and sell things. Haven't had any problems yet. When I was living the extremely broke student lifestyle in Victoria, I started selling things on Craigslist so that I could eat (and by eat I mean drink...). People were seriously willing to pay for the most random things! And everyone was always willing to come pick up the items and pay in cash.

I believe craigslist is more popular but I usually list on both since they are free. But it can be very frustrating dealing with people who never show up to view. People will email/phone you several times and will make you think they are coming for sure, but more often than not, they just disappear.

I have only purchased items from Kijiji, had no issues at all.

Used Craiglist with no problems.

Used freecycle also to get rid of junk.

I sold a guitar on Craigs List, but I recently listed an electronic device, and received 3 or 4 emails from people trying to scam me out of it...the typical Nigeria ebay scam. Pretty annoying.

I've also stumbled across what might be junk, but also might be worth some money -- Star Wars trading cards. A couple hundred of them.

Is there a place in town where you can take collectibles like that kind of thing and not get burned? I haven't the foggiest idea if these things should go in the recycle bin, or if there are people out there who want them and will pay money. Some of them are kind of funny. There is an illustration of Boba Fett and his hand is on fire for some reason.

In the same box was an incomplete, miniature deck of "Kojak" playing cards, and that really made my day.

Craigslist rules! In Vancouver it is used on a very large scale, but it seems Calgary doesn't have as many users. It would be hard to find anyone in Van who hasn't used it.
I've sold and bought tons of things on CL, and even found my job on CL.

When I lived in Calgary, I found buysell.com generated more attention.

One tip - when you make your posting, be as specific as possible.

If you are not going to haggle with a buyer about the selling price, say so. And include this in your reply when they email you about whatever it is you're selling.

Personally, I find that people still haggle any way when they arrive, so I don't put that in my posting any more... instead, I think about the absolute lowest number I'll sell for and post a higher number, so the people haggle down to some where around my target price.

Also some cases of people getting robbed via Craigslist postings... just be careful and make sure the buyer doesn't look super sketchy when they arrive.

Star Wars stuff will always have a someone who'll want em.

Who do they say they are made by? Are they trading cards, or are they part of a Star Wars card game? Do they look like these: http://www.swccgpc.com/ or these: http://www.swfigures.com/swf/store-s...adingCards.htm

As to value, an ebay search might help and there's usually magazines that have a value in them, but actually finding someone to buy them at that value can be tough, and stores won't give you a lot for them usually (they have to turn around and mark them up to be able to sell them).
