Green Tea Pills
Hi all,
Wondering if anyone has experience with these things? I've started a fairly intense exercise and diet program and heard these pills might speed up the weight loss side of things. Any success/failure stories appreciated!

Nope I do use multi-vitamins, omega 3 fishoil and protein shakes with my work out program. But never even heard of green tea pills.

I drink green tea at work after reading about the positive health effects. I honestly don't notice any differences but have always been healthy and in shape.
I have never tried green tea pills but find most pills are a waste money. If you eat a healthy diet, you should get most of the nutrients found in many of these pills. If you have a busy lifestyle, poor diet etc. then multivitamins are not a bad idea to fill in the gap.

I am also relatively fit and drink green tea at work (instead of coffee) and while I don't know that there is an outright positive effect I do find it to be a good way to feel hydrated all day and to always have something on hand instead of fatty snacks.
I am not sure that translates to a pill though? Seems gimmicky to me?
The one pill I have been wondering about is this new 'PGx' thing -- has anyone tried it? Supposed to be a super fibre developed at the U of Toronto?? Not really interested in the weight loss side of it, but could be good for controlling hunger and insulin response....

I am always skeptical though.

If you are trying to order that Greentea weight loss thing over the net, don't do it, you will be calling your visa company wanting to get refunded real quick, i've seen it happen lots.

I do the exact same thing, well, except for the workout part.
Green Tea, apparently suppresses your appetite. i try to have at least one cup/day in the afternoon. It actually makes me pee a lot.

Why not just drink Green Tea instead of pills? The actual tea is dirt cheap and is nice to sip...

I have used Green Tea extract pills to help shed weight. You can get 120 for $10 at Wal-Mart. Of course you still need to do the exercise too but Green Tea does speed up your metabolism. Have not really found it supress's my appetite though but given the fact that studies have shown it can help in a lot of areas including Cancer prevention for $10 what do you have to lose? I take 2 200mg caplets 3x a day. they also give you a decent energy spike.

I used to have stomach problems, but I started drinking green tea after eating lunch and it helps.
I dont know about the weight loss though. I have never noticed anything (but I'm already in good shape so I dont need any real weight loss).

Just as an update, I started on the green tea extract pills last Friday and combined them with Fish oil and multi vitamins, and kept up my workout schedule, and I've shed about a pound and a half. They don't make me jittery at all, which is good.
I still have a long ways to go, but I thought I would let you know that at this point, the experiement is going well.

The hotel I stayed at a few weeks ago had Green Tea Shampoo and Body Wash. I grabed a whole bunch from the housekeeping cart, but I haven't lost any weight by using them. Just FYI.

There have been a couple peer reviewed studies about green tea helping to increases metabolism, but these were in very specific cases (ie the participants took part in fairly strict diets). Certainly the antioxidants are good, but if you're looking for ways to prevent cancer - eating ample amounts of fruits and vegetables every day has been shown to be one of the best ways to do so.
Certainly green tea is healthy, but I would recommend staying away from pills. All of the good that may come from green tea could potentially be negated due to things such as preservatives or things taken out. I'm not sure if it would be considered an ergonic acid, but if it is then they may make any claims they want (as regulated by the FDA), so long as they list all the ingredients. What I'm trying to say is the majority of pills/supplements out there are crocks.
Since by drinking green tea you are essentially adding wellness to your diet (like adding another fruit/vegetable a day sort of thing), it would be silly to contradict that intention and take it in supplement form.

i think the pills are bunk..just like the cider vinegar pills everyone tried years ago..drinking green tea is so good for you and makes you feel hydrated..unfortunately i don't drink it so i should take my own advice!

Thanks Cap. I will be coming up there ya know. For now I figure hanging at the gym is more profitable than running down to the Panthers games. OOPS.

Just drink the tea?
More benefits, no problems.
