I like Dane Cook. Alot of his comedy revolves around his sound effects and humorous impressions.....but I like it. His shows seem fairly limited though. It seems like he's telling the same jokes at every show. BAD movies.....but i think he's very entertaining in not huge doses.

I'd have to say Dane Cook strikes me as a pretty average comedian. He seems to have a pretty strong Youtube following, but I'm not really sure why.
OT: If you ever get the chance to see Dwight Slade live, I highly recommend you go. One of the best standups I've seen ever.

also OT: My favorite stand-up still has to be Delirious by Eddie Murphy. Doesn't get much better than that.

+1 , not a fan, and thought I was the only one. His random loud outbursts get really annoying.
I never liked Seinfield, but Jerry Seinfield's Broadway standup was brilliant.

Not a Cook fan.
My favorite comedian right now is Jeremy Hotz.

Dane Cook sucks. There's just something about him that really pisses me off. Like alot. I bet he's an a**hole if you met him offstage. That and he's been reported to have stolen jokes from one of my favourite comedians, Louis CK. I think he's more popular with the ladies because he's a good looking guy, I havent met too many guys who like Cook(and I've never met a girl who said she didnt think he was hilarious when his name came up)

Yes, as I said in the other thread, Dane Cook is not funny in the least. It really annoys me that a talentless hack like that can make a career doing something he has no business doing.

He's sooo horrible.. I often wonder if I could have a career in comedy when you see that little substance making that kind of money..

Ugh...had to bump this because I saw a preview for his new movie. Looks about as brutal as everything else he's ever done but it looks like I'm getting dragged to see it (her turn to pick). I might sneak my iPod into the theatre.

Don't think he's terribly funny but he has that beleagured guy-next- door appeal. Like a non-threatening teddy bear.

I think I can put this pretty simply. The 12-14 year olds I teach think he's uproarious.
That is all.

Me too. I somehow managed to get away with not seeing Good Luck Chuck, I dont think I'll be so lucky this time, she already said she wants to see it. She watches football with me every weekend(which she doesnt even like), so I really have no way of getting out of this. As soon as I saw the preview, I cringed.

in regards to the people that note he just yells a lot: what is your opinion of louis black? he seems to do a lot of yelling to make his jokes funny. i personally like the guy because his jokes are the ones you have to think about, but just wanted to know if he fell in the same category for you guys?

The ONLY way you could even possibly think to compare those two is that they are both loud. Aside from that, they couldn't be more different. Lewis Black is smart and witty, Dane Cook is neither. You're right, you have to think about Lewis Black jokes. With Dane Cook, the only thing you think about is why the hell you even bothered watching him in the first place. You at least have to have some smarts to get Lewis Black jokes. A 12-year old probably feels dumbed down after listening to Cook.

All of my friends who are in the 24-25 range think he's hilarious and purposely seek out his movies and comedy specials. I can't understand why.
