Upon closer inspection, nothing major has been collided yet:

Quote:
Once the beam has successfully been tested in clockwise direction, CERN will send it counterclockwise. Eventually the two beams will be fired in opposite directions with the aim of smashing together protons to see how they are made.

And full power is probably a year away.

It was just reported on my local news that the collision has happened. They showed some scientists cheering. I guess we all get to go to work today.

I don't think any collisions have taken place yet. Everything I've read in the news today implies that they are still testing. Check out that Yahoo article linked above.

Clockwise tests today. Counterclockwise tests later. World ends in October when they start smashing stuff into other stuff.

If they are just turning it on commissioning will take a while. My hope is that the microscopic blackholes form an inter-dimensional portal

I'm hoping that they fire this thing up to do the collisions at the same time as a massive storm which causes me to be transported to a parallel universe where theres a me with a goatee who is completely evil.

Did you ever think that maybe the parallel universe, goateed version of you is the good one and your current incarnation is the evil one?
