Arizona would be my choice. The ability to play golf year round is very enticing. Of course one would have deal with the extreme heat in the summer, still i'll take it over the cold and snow we get during our winters.

Oh jeez if only I had the money to invest in some of this stuff. The problem with Palm Beach County where I live is high property taxes and we still have the homestead thing.

For every arrogant American there are easily 2 or 3 smug Canadians that will tell you how much better Canada is and how much better Canadians are so I doubt that I would find that annoying.
I loved Houston when I lived there for 3 months and would love to get out of winter forever.
I have been down to the States for medical treatment with other family members already and had no problem with the healthcare system down there so that doesn't concern me too much.
However, I will be stuck up here with my wife for life I imagine.
At least I have 100x better hockey options which are almost enough to make it worth it on their own.

I've wondered if this is common among Canadians. I guess it's hard for me to differentiate since I grew up so close to the border. I know winter too. I just can't imagine living somewhere that it is always warm. Yuck.
I like 4 distinct seasons, I don't get that where I'm at now. It wears on me.

Ah yes, the grass is always greener...
There are arrogant pricks on both sides of the 49th, but we're a lot more similar nationally and individually than some would like to admit. I enjoy living in the U.S., though it has it's drawbacks depending on where you live, as does every nation.
I was born 60 miles from the Canadian Border, and lived for some time 30 miles from the Gulf of Mexico. I've lived in (MT: Wolf Point, Great Falls, Bozeman, Billings) Portland OR, Quantico VA, and New Orleans LA.
My motto was best said by Farmer Fran in Joe Dirt: "Home is where you make it."
I may have the opportunity to move to Lethbridge at some point in the future to work at a family business, I wonder what the response would be of the Americans here if they could move to Canada?

Not in my current profession, there's not a chance. Now, if I did something else, maybe. My wife and I have always enjoyed Seattle, and we both like the LA area as well. New York is a blast but I can't see myself living there.

How the heck does someone get such horrid financial advice and make enough money to be in a 50% tax bracket? That's crazy. Lottery winner?
Since I already live in the US, I'll answer the question backwards...would I move to Canada? I think I would be willing to give it a try, perhaps flee back to So Cal for the coldest parts of winter, but if my family was there and my son could still play AA hockey up there I could see myself giving it a whirl. It would have to be Western Canada, I have no interest in living anywhere near Toronto. It would have to be the Calgary area, it wouldn't make sense to move to Canada and not be near the Flames. I'd keep my health insurance and visit doctors in the US though.

Yes - Maui in a second (assuming I could make the same income I made here).

I had serious thoughts about that too. My problem had to due with isolation and the fact that you are limited to where one can travel.

My brother lived in Hawaii for two years. He loved being able to surf everyday and it was beautiful, but after a year he had island fever BAD and had to get back to the mainland.

I wouldn't need to travel - I might even be able to give up hockey!

Mine as well. For fun a few months ago I looked at some houses there...wicked nice houses, all with pools for like $175,000! I felt like flying down there to see them for myself!

Not for me. There's cities I like, I like the weather, but that country is far too christian-conservative for me. (Heck, Canada's starting to look that way too.) Economic advantages of moving to the states as well aren't as big as they once were now that our dollar's gone up. Right now , for what I'm doing in my career Calgary is the place to be. However, if I'm going to leave my friends and family, I might as well go to that has both the kind of weather I like and the kind of social structure factors I like, and that isn't the USA.

The only upside to moving to the US would be climate. There are many downsides that wouldn't make it worth it. If I had my choice (which I ultimately do), I'd rather stay in Canada. If I had to leave Calgary, there are many other places I'd look into before the United States... many countries in Europe interest me as do Australia and New Zealand. If I had to move to the US, I'm sure I could make the best of it.

I would say no for the simple fact that everyone has the right to bear arms and that their constitution insures that practically every idiot who wants a gun can own one if they can act reasonably normal during the purchase process.
