Default Is stripping an art? Iowa case to test.

Iowa doesn't have any all-nude strip clubs - but it does have performing arts centers where women dance naked.
Even better:

Nonsense, said Fremont County Attorney Margaret Johnson, an underage girl danced naked at the club, and that's illegal.

Needed a change of pace from the religous/poli wars, as the Hotty draft thread has seemingly distracted others from posting articles like this.

So what actually happened is that a 17 year old girl snuck in to the centre - against their rules - and took off her clothes to dance, yet somehow the comment from the County Attorney is, "Can a group of 12-year-olds come down and go in and dance nude and it's OK?"

How do people like this get into positions of authority? Does the incident in any way suggest that this "worst case scenario" is likely to happen? Hell, I got into bars at 16 - does that mean that 11 year olds are likely to start getting piefaced and starting brawls at your local pub any time now? No, 'cause that was back in the 80's, and so far society seems to have held up without such a doomsday scenario ever happening...

Here's an idea - if the club (why don't we have these clubs here, dammit!) makes a reasonable effort to exclude minors from the festivities, taking them to court is a waste of the justice system's time and money. Unless of course this is just a ploy to impose some kind of moral stricture on naked people, which of course is completely sensible because as we all know nakedness is dangerous and must be stopped.

Anyway, I like how the attorney mentions that the parents are absolutely appalled (ooh, surprising!), and I think it would suck to be that girl's mother or father; BUT if your daughter feels like taking her clothes off in front of a bunch of strangers at 17, somewhere you've already screwed up bigtime and it's a bit late now to try to blame her problems on someone else other than you, and her.

PS: The parents probably named her Kandyy, and thus her fate was sealed from birth - not only a stripper name, but a stupidly spelt one.

Well, with a name like Shotgun Geniez, you know it's going to be a high-class artistic venue.

They have a really "artistic" website too (I'd link to it, but there are some NSFW images to be found - Google can help you find it). Beware, apparently, being an attractive woman is not one of the requirements of strippers in Iowa - yikes!

This is the best part of the story...

Murphy noted that the club has a gallery selling collectible posters and other art, and it provides patrons with sketch pads.
I bet they get a lot of art students who come in to work on their "life drawings".

We'll after studying the website in excruciating detail I have to think that the owner has a really interesting way to get around the county laws about stripping. She's really angled for the art house thing by advertising a museum with art pieces which look like old movie posters nailed to the wall.

However the way that she advertises the theatre itself as having VIP rooms for a fee and full contact all nude lap dances makes me think that any judge is going to call this what it is, a strip club for money.

Its funny that the building itself looks like one of the famous brothels located just outside of Vegas, not that I would know that.

Correction--full contact all nude artistic lap dances.
