Here's something to cheer up your Mondays.http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=stor...ndonesiavolcano
Another Volcano to worry about is the Yellowstone Park's supervolcano, and that one is delightfully over due.

Looks like we're all going to die. If this thing erupts, hilarity will not ensue.

I was in Yellowstone last fall, that thing is absolutely enormous! We would all be in some serious trouble if it decided it was time to erupt again.

Yikes!!........On a related topic I was listening to Late Night with George Nory about 3 weeks back and some freak that said he was the devil phoned in and said the end of humans would come in 2007 from a massive volcano that blocked the sun for years.

The Discovery Channel is running a three hour Supervolcanoe special this Sunday. Starts at 6:00 and 10:00 in Calgary. A look at the Yellowstone situation from a 'ticking-timebomb' perspective. Should be depressingly captavating.
Here's a link.

I know what you mean there. Some things make you think but at the same time most of it seems to be crap that I could think up of with a night of heavy drinking.

But really I have what 70 years left max.... I think it should hold off until then, which is all right in my books.

Makes you wonder why bother with anything? The Yellowstone supervolcano is said to require little effort to erupt. If that's the case, then it's any day now. I wouldn't be surprised to see it go off in our lifetime.

so, people who got to watch it... was it as gloomy as we thought, or was it more like, well, it could trigger a massive earthquake that decimates Wyoming and Montana, or it could be a 7 year slow release type thing?

It's every bit as gloomy as we thought...actually worse. There are signs that are creeping into the picture...signs that are identical to the events of Mount St. Helen. The eruption isn't the worse part, it's dying slowing of ash suffocation and later starvation.

Happy Mondays!

BTW, It was my birthday over the weekend, I live to see 30 |

Well, there was one geologist who was like: "well, just because it happened three times at the same interval, doesn't mean there's a pattern" |
