Anyone see this flick over the weekend??

I saw the trailer and thought it looked absolutely ridiculous and wasn't thrilled about seeing it, but I was pleasantly surprised?? It was a 2 hour thrill ride full of great action combined with amazing visuals with some of the best action sequences that I can remember. The story is downright silly and some of the stunts borderline on beyond James Bond level, but this film was done so bloody well. And the performances were awesome too. James McEvoy was great as the unsuspecting loser who is thrust into a world he didn't know existed, reminded me of Neo from the Matrix except this guy can act and he was very funny as well. And Angelina Jolie.....good god, she is just smoking in this movie, Im glad I got her in the hottie draft.

Overall, I really liked this flick, it was funny, silly, ridiculous and just a lot of fun. Great visuals, curving bullets, slow motion action and explicit violence, 8/10. Check it out!!

It was a fun movie, but you really had to turn your brain off as some of the action sequences and "matrix-like effects" were totally over the top. It's a typical summer blockbuster that knows it's audience. I read the review on CBC, and I agreed that it was the minor details that sell the movie.

I saw it with 3 others on Saturday night. I was the only one who didn't love it. I didn't hate it either though. I give it 6 mehs out of 10.

Something about making the curvature of the bullet bend is a bit unbelievable. Even in a movie.

Cool to look at......HELL YES!!!

I don't think you are supposed to take logic when you walk into this movie, otherwise you are pretty upset after the first 3 minutes.

Agree with all the other posts. Take it for what it's worth, a typical summer shoot 'em up action film.

If you're looking for an intellectual film, look somewhere else.
If you're looking for guns, headshots, car chase scenes and mild Jolie nudity, this is your film!

Some definate Mythbusters content.

I'm sure you can get bullets to collide head-on, although the chances of that happening in an event that wasn't staged are pretty slim.

As for the curving the bullet....I seriously doubt it. At least not in the way that they were showing.

And it happens three times in the movie, and once on purpose to save someone's life, it was bloody awesome!!!!

Too bad it couldn't stay true to the original graphic novel but I dont think hollywood could have a lead character rape who he wanted, or for him murdering entire police stations or innocent bystanders.

I thought the end scene where he went into the textiles factory was really well done. Good effects, music, and overall cinematography(sp?)

Slow-mo ownage of bad guys with dual hand guns. Awesome.

Meh, I've never been of the mind that a movie based on a book or based on any previous work has to be 100 percent true to its creation. I like to judge a movie on its own merit. I never knew Wanted as a graphic novel, in fact I didn't even know it was a graphic novel until like a month ago, and when I was watching the movie, I didn't really care. This movie, just straight up, was a lot of fun. Nothing really more to be said. Funny, violent, fast and just great performances by the three main stars who were probably over-qualified for a movie like this, but they made it that much better. I can't begin to tell you how good McEvoy was in this thing. It wasn't a difficult role, but had they got someone like Shia LaBeouf or some other up and comer, there's no way it would be as good. McEvoy was great as the depressed low life with major self esteem issues stuck in a cubicle, and was great as the hero of the day, shooting a mob boss in a limo as his car is flipping in mid air.

That scene and the opening action scene were top notch for sure.

Using the "repairman's" head as a gun port and shield was was crazy! Something that hasn't been done before in any movie I've seen

WTH that movie blew, I tried turning my mind off but there is a difference between fantasy and an out-and-out psychotic break with reality.

The plot "twists" were just silly like ***SPOILER ALERT****

Why didn't his father just yell "she's the enemy - I'm your father and I am here to save you!" the first time we see him in the pharmacy? Or one of the numerous other times they are fighting? Or, heck, why not call him on the freakin' telephone? When the whole plot revolves around someone acting in a way which even the dimmest of human beings wouldn't, it ruins the movie entirely. I can take bullets curving, guys jumping across hundreds of feet of airspace, cars flipping over other cars and still being driveable, and even Angelina Jolie kissing some guy half a foot shorter than she is, but fer chrissakes the human interactions have to have some believability - otherwise you have NO grounding whatsoever and the whole thing ends up being a joke.

Yeah, I found it really contrived for the exact reason you mentioned. Or why didn't Cross explain what was going on to his fellow assassins, rather than killing them off? Completely unrealistic premise.
As far as mindless bloody violence, I actually found Shoot 'Em Up far more viciously wicked and entertaining. Using the one guy as a shield while he shoots through the back of his head was a nice touch, but one of few. Speaking of which, there were a lot of ideas borrowed from Shoot 'Em Up here (not to mention the Matrix similarities).
And Danny Elfman doing the score? I kept thinking of the Family Guy episode where he gets decapitated by Luke. Worst possible choice to score this film, it sounded like the theme from Harry Potter.
I found it entertaining enough that I'd give it maybe a five, six at the most, but really it was pretty far below my expectations.
