But I guess different strokes.. although I've yet to meet one in person I'm told there are other Spider-Man 3 likers out there - I mean heck, the movie got like 69% from RT. And there are bound to be people that are going to love a movie about the Leafs winning the Cup. I think the crew from TSN is planning to see it together tonight.

he he... actually I thought he was pretty good in 'Alpha Dog'. that was a pretty cool movie, but you're right... I don't know that he has the acting chops to do anything too demanding (and I think good comedy is probably quite demanding, otherwise you're just mugging a la Ashton Kutcher).

You see, that comment makes me want to see it. I had ZERO interest in watching the Love Guru until I heard Colbert was in it, now I find out he's got a role that could steal the move?! Is his prominence in the move really that much?

Timberlake was pretty good in Black Snake Moan. And this is coming from a guy who can't stand him otherwise, but I had to admit he did a decent job.

Mike Myers, on the other hand, has succumbed to the disease I like to call "Sandleritis", where you continually recycle the same comedic ideas until they lose whatever humour they had entirely and just induce pain.

Boy, glad we went to Get Smart last night instead of Love Guru.

I'll just say that the movie went by quickly, and that's a good thing

I don't remember him in that at all. Maybe I was too caught up in thinking about Christina Ricci being a nympho to pay any attention to anything else though

Just watching the advert's for the love guru makes me not want to see it at all, it looks stupid as hell. I have to agree with everyone that Mike Myer's schtick has run it's course. It's too bad that people who make these movies just see dollar signs when it comes to these people who were at one time big box office draws, and allow them to make about five too many of the same movie. That and figuring that a crappy script will be OK if they just pile all the flavour-of-the-month celebrities in one movie.

p.s. OK, now I remember JT in Black Snake Moan. He was the boyfriend in the military IIRC.

I don't think he's a star in it, but his scenes are supposed to be funniest in the movie - just from reviews I read.

Yeah, I'm not a fan either, but I like him in movies. His music is not my cup of tea (although he is undeniably talented), and I figured he'd annoy me in movies, but he doesn't.

I think part of the reason is that he is not trying to be the "star" in the movies he's in. A lot of pop stars come into movies and expect to be the lead character right off the bat, but Justin Timberlake seems to be content accepting supporting roles and to be mentored by more experienced actors. In the long run, it should help him become a more serious actor.

Its true he has done some dramatic roles well, but he looks horrible in a comedy role.

Goes to show again, how hard it is to be a comedic actor, wake up Oscars!

At some point over the last month I watched So I married and Axe Murderer on cable. Myers had a funny joke about most Scottish food "..being based on a dare". It was a funny joke, in a charming movie, that was made 15 years ago.

Three nights ago Mike Myers was on the Daily Show, in which he made a joke about most food, this time not just Scottish, was based on a dare. Come on Mike...

The only thing that looks funny about this movie, is Stephen Colbert AND Jim Gaffigan as CBC broadcasters.

Anytime I've seen Timberlake in anything (black snake moan included) I've been really impressed ... even on SNL.

I'm not sticking up for Sandler in any way, but to me Myers is worse. To me Sandler recycles the same character types but Myers recycles the same jokes which is much more annoying imo. Personally I find Myers more funny, but it is really annoying to see him using the same jokes over and over again. I was watching an old SNL from Mike's earlier years (I'm thinking earlier 90's) and he used the joke about not being able to control the sound of his voice (which he yells out loud). Pretty annoying to see old SNL jokes that were probably written by somebody else making their way into his big movies.

MIke Myers isn't one bit funny, and is widely hated in Hollywood by his peers. He's a big ego maniac from what I have heard. His moment was over when Wayne's World was over. I thought the Spy movies were horrible so I wouldn't watch Guru even if it was free on T.V. He's getting old, time to retire.

Bad Opening Weekend. Only 4th place and $14 Million. Get Smart did $39 Million.

I saw a collection of reviews over the weekend, and one (I think it was NY Times) had a great line.

It's alright, Myers can just poop out a couple more Shrek movies and get that bottom line straightened right back out.

How appropriate that a movie involving the Leafs sucks just as much as they do.....

Sorry for bumping an old thread but the movie has been released on DVD now, why I have no idea.

Anyways, has anyone here actually seen this abortion of a movie? I downloaded it the other day and watched it last night, curiousity got the best of me and it was only 90 mins long so I thought what the hell.

I was completely stunned by how bad it was. Even though I was prepared by the horrid reviews and the 14% rating on Rotton Tomatoes I was still blindsided by how completely unfunny and poor this movie really was. Sometimes I assume that reviewers are a bit harsh on comedies and maybe even felt like piling on when the bad reviews started coming in upon release. I am afraid not, it is every ounce as bad as they say. Actually it is worse.

Justin Timberlake trying to be funny as a French Canadian goalie, Jessica Alba attempting the acting thing yet again and the Leafs winning the Stanley Cup?

This is the worst movie I have ever seen.
