BC police suspect foul play is afoot
BC police need victims to step forward
http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/06/17/...eet/index.html
Fifth severed foot found on Canadian coast
"A severed human foot was found washed up on an island on the western coast of Canada this week, reportedly the fifth detached foot found in the area in the past 11 months, according to local police and media reports. The foot was found Monday on the shore of Westham Island south of Vancouver, according to Constable Sharlene Brooks of the Delta Police Department in British Columbia. The severed left foot, which was in a shoe, was taken to a coroner for DNA tests, she added."
Did they not notice all the people swimming in circles?
"Our first step is to establish identity," Brooks said. "It is a little mysterious, but we don't know if it is linked to others."
Best unintentional pun EVER.

Hilarious title. Living out here I laughed my ass off recognizing what it meant.
Over the past year or so they have found 5 feet on various islands. 4 were left and 1 was right.

I tried to find something like that and my MSpaint skills are not good enough to make it not look like ass. Plus I can't host images at work. Thanks for doing that.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but it's weird that all the feet have been found severed just above the ankle. If it was a result of an accident, there wouldn't such consistency of the severeing height. Also, interesting to note if the cut is clean or messy.

I have a hard time seeing this as anything other than a product of organized crime - most likely a means of punishing people who've failed the gang, or haven't paid their debts on time.
I think a serial killer is highly unlikely. It would be more likely if the bulk of the young men who went missing were gay, but there's no sign of that, and no real indication that all these missing dudes are connected (were connected, sorry) to those feet.
I think it would be particularly interesting to know the genders and races associated with all these feet, as that would help narrow things down a bit further.

Actually its a pretty common finding following car/train/plane crashes. Its a scissoring effect during the impact, where your feet continue moving forwards (under the seat / dashboard in front of you), while the rest of you is pushed backwards.

The report on the bbc seemed to say that police were saying feet (as well as other body parts) tend to fall off naturally as a body decomposes.
Anyways, itll be interesting to see how this whole thing turns out.

My favorite part is this little excerpt.
"Originally the gang was fighting with the Hells Angels and even had a famous battle in Abbotsford, BC at the Animals bar. This fight was called "World War Three" as they battled bikers and beat up the police on the way out."
