For sure. I am actually surprised at how old he is getting already...not that 30 or 31 is actually old, but I still remember him breaking in over 10 years ago now. Life is moving too fast.

Man, I sort of feel for Rocco, as he played this tourney about as well as he could have and still has to face a playoff tommorrow. I gotta root for the mid 40's guy trying to win his first major though. Watch his demeanor out on the course, how can you not like the guy. Pretty dramatic final round though as three different guys held the lead and it ends in a two way tie. Tiger did make some really poor shot selections on the back nine today though. Normally when you make shot selections like that you don't get away with it. Rocco had his chances and those two near miss birdie putts will likely cost him. Too bad, I was hoping for him today.

GO ROCCO!!!!!

Why? What did he ever do to you, or anyone else for that matter, that would have you spewing such vitriol?

The guy is providing us with something so special to watch as golf fans that it boggles my mind anyone would wish him something that would end his career at age 31....a golfers prime years in the past.

I understand people get sick of hearing about him as he is everywhere on TV coverage. that's not his fault though.

i just don't get it when people feel so violently about someone who they niether know nor have anything to do with.

Mainly because he is a jackass and the endless yapping about how "great" he is has gone beyond nauseating now. That and the fact that he is ruining a sport I enjoyed watching before him and will continue to enjoy once he is finally gone.

Had that been anyone other golfer, particularly Mickelson, all we would hear about is how they choked away a final round lead with a horrendous decision on 13 and other poor decisions/bad shots coming down the stretch.

Instead because Tiger hit a flag stick while pounding the ball 10-15 feet past the hole it is "clutch" and "amazing."

Rocco has played the best at this tournament I hope he is able to win today. He deserves the win unlike his opponent.

I agree with Moon on this one, it is nauseating the way the announcers talk about Tiger and how "no one could make that shot but him"........gimme a break. Listening to Johnny Miller talk about Tiger makes me wonder if Johnny wants to give him a happy ending massage after the round. Admittedly, the announcers make me dislike Tiger and not something that Tiger has or hasn't done but I'll be cheering for Rocco today. I hope the golf gods let someone like him win a major.

So because something someone else says about him...means he should endure a career ending injury.

He is simply the best golfer to have ever played the game. I guess they should talk about others moreso though.

You sound like a bitter old man dude.

No...Rocco has not played "the best" as if that was the case, we wouldnt be watching a playoff today. As for who "deserves" to win, its the player who shoots the lowest score, always has been that way and always will be.

I thought that putt on 18 was a pretty good shot myself.

In just about every scenario I would be pulling for Rocco Mediate. Humble, hardworking, likeable guy. Tiger's play on the weekend through his bad knee, though, had me really pulling for him. So I'm torn.

Of course, it absolutely sucks that I can't sit and watch it today, but that's life. I hope it's a close match and it comes down to the 90th hole (or beyond).

While I'm not a huge golf fan, I would agree with the sentiment Woods gets far too much limelight. He's a special player now doubt but the constant "Tiger did this, Tiger did that" of the media gets tiring, much like all the Leafs coverage during the season. It's also to the point where if he's entered it's pretty much a tournament for second place.

He's not alone, other sports have similar athletes. For example how crappy would it have been to be at your peak during Lance Armstrong's era?

People end up "hating" the player because of the over exposure and can wish injury on the player just to give others a chance.

The playoff will be on the TSN Alt feed - does that mean Shaw users are screwed??

And Tiger is responsible for what the media and announcers say or print?

Yet you wish permanent injury on a player cause you don't like him. I agree with tranny, you do sound like a bitter man.

The announcers were giving Tiger and his caddy the gears for poor shot making on 13. Guess you missed that one. Or how about the fact they questioned his club choices on the tee box through out the round.

Rocco had chances to seal the win yesterday but didn't. Had a 2 stroke lead at one time during the final round and couldn't hold it. Or if he birdies 18th it's all over. Hardly someone who played the best.

All the attention Tiger gets from the media is well deserved. We are witnessing the greatest golfer in history in his prime - anytime something like that happens you get a ton of media focus.

And for good reason. I say just sit back and enjoy it.

I agree. I watched Nicklaus growing up and all the great things he did. Still we are witnessing one os the greatist golfers to come around in ages. Most fans are enjoying the ride Tiger is taking us on.

So say Rocco does win today, how many runner up finishes would that be for Tiger in the majors? IIRC Nicklaus won 18 majors and had 9 runner up finishes. Tiger would have to be getting close to that number of runner up finishes. It's pretty amazing that given how broad the field is, how different the courses are set up in these majors that he always seems to find a way to be at the top of the leader board.

Still I hope for Rocco to pull it off today. If he can I would hope that most don't talk about Woods coming off surgery and playing on one knee and how he would have killed the field instead of Mediate being a 45 year old guy who hits the ball 260 yards winning the US Open on the longest course in history. Thats why I love golf....you get guys into their 40's who can still come out and win these big tournaments on occasion. Gives me hope that I can still get better at the game despite my advanced age.

yep.

And as for the "he's a jackass" comments, why is that? Because he expects a lot from himself? because he doesn't suffer fools gladly? Oh no! He gets upset when he makes a bad shot!! No one else out there ever does that!

He's the best. He works his ass off to be the best. Be mad at his opponents in that they need to kick it up a notch. I hate it when the good athletes are disliked simply because they've worked harder and they play better.

Truly the stupidest thing posted on this site for quite some time, well done.
