Of course, that does make a lot of sense.
If a species was enlightened and advanced, and not aggressive (which we would know by now), what purpose would we be aside from a source of learning. They can learn from us exactly how they are. They however, would serve a massive purpose for us, and they would change the way we do everything. Possibly for the better, but even more possibly for the worst. An ethical, enlightened species would not want that decision on their conscience. They would have to wait until the balance of probabilities says their interference would not radically change our progression, which would likely be when we have enough advancement (technologically, socially or both) that their meeting would not completely derail us.
Ahh Star Trek, is there anything it can't do?

I did feel really wierd last night. I was coming home from a movie at about 12:30 and was driving through the bowness area. The sky was really weird. The clouds looked like there was light from a city shinning on it but it was west and there is no city or town where its position was. Me and my girlfriend were trying to figure out what it was. I wouldnt be able to see lights from Canmore from Stoney Trail would I?

guys and girls I saw what I saw!
UFO IT WAS FOR SURE, can it be explained? Probably. Yet it was freaky.
I am not claiming it was an alien craft, personally I dont believe in that stuff.
I fully admit if I saw a stealth aircraft many of years ago I would say it looked out of this world. I never saw that though,
I saw lights, big time lights in the sky that I assumed were aircraft. Super cool thing to see.
I have seen the skies filled with 50 f18's before too, awesome sight, yet this was so different.
for all I know it was a refuleing exercise, yet it did not look like it.
Never the less, think what you will. I am not freaked out over this. I can not explain it, but it does not bother me either.
I am not privy to what goes on with the military, and yes i do believe it was military. Yet it was an awesome sight to see.
I will probably laugh alot in ten years or so as the truth is told.
Yet it was a fantastic sight to see in the skies.
Do I believe in aliens? Sure soon as I meet one.
I am just reporting on what I saw in the skies. I do regret others never saw this. Yet I started this thread looking for someone else that saw this.
I guess I am either special or need therapy. Please dont go there.
Therapy would probably help me, yet I saw what I saw!

Video claims to show a "space alien":
http://www.cnn.com/video/#/video/bes...alien.tape.cnn
CNN's Larry King talks to a panel about the possibility of a tape containing footage of an actual alien.

If they have mastered long distance space travel, or inter-dimensional travel, then they would surely have more advanced ways of viewing us than peaking through our windows at night.

Same reason we would. Curiousity and the thrill of experience. Sure they might have some kind of visual device that lets them watch us from above... but that's not the same as actually setting foot on a new world and experiencing it for one's self. I mean, we don't actually have to travel, we can see pictures and videos of foreign lands, why are we still compelled to see things in person? Is that merely confined to humans?

Good point.
I guess I just assumed that they would have developed some form of stealth technology that would allow them to go unnoticed.
I also can't imagine that travelling millions of light years to watch some dude in Denver sleep would be all that exciting... especially for such an advanced society.

Also, why would they look somewhat like humans (ex. two eyes, two arms, two legs etc)? Seems to me, aliens would look nothing like us.

I remember reading a paper on the prospect of Alien communication, and the biggest issue besides appearance because even a slight difference in Environment creates a look thats highly unique, is that there's no basis for any kind of communication let alone common thought.
They theorized that if humans work on mathmatics based on 10 pair, that it would be totally inconvievable to an alien who has based his math on 3 pair.
Even our way of thinking might be completely alien to a visiting alien. Our concepts of up and down, left and right might not exist in their mind.
I believe if Aliens ever came to earth it would be like a grade 10 dance, neither side would do anything but stare at the other side.
Hell even the human belief that advanced civilizations must be peaceful, might be a totally foreign concept to a race born in a hostile environment.
We should stop trying to communicate with other species and try to hide ourselves, because man, we don't know whats out there, how they think, how they communicate and if they're hungry.

Because God created us all in His image so it would stand to reason there would be some family resemblance.
