with my first pick, I am pleased to present the greatest band in the world: Black Sabbath!
Black Sabbath is credited with creating heavy metal. The success of their first two albums - Black Sabbath and Paranoid - marked a paradigm shift in the world of rock. Not until Black Sabbath upended the music scene did the term “heavy metal” enter the popular vocabulary to describe the denser, more thunderous offshoot of rock over which they presided. With their riff-based songs, extreme volume, and dark, demonic subject matter, Black Sabbath embodied key aspects of the heavy-metal aesthetic. Yet in their own words, Black Sabbath saw themselves as a “heavy underground” band. That term denoted both the intensity of their music and the network of fans who found them long before critics and the music industry took notice. In a sense, although they’ve sold more than 75 million albums worldwide, they still are a heavy underground band. Though they became eligible for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995, they weren’t inducted until 2006. The truth is, they remain one of the most misunderstood bands in rock history.

they pretty much invented the type of music I listen to. Another band that put out amazing stuff in such a short period of time with their original lineup. I've owned their albums for more than 25 years and can still play them over and over.
With the 19th overall pick, BF & the BFFs are extremely proud to select the most important songwriter of all time, and Great American Poet: Bob Dylan
BF & the BFFs are shocked Dylan was still available so late in the first round, and are absolutely giddy to be building around the man who is both our favorite all-time musician, and one of the seminal 20th century cultural icons.
We will tentatively place Dylan in the songwriter category, with the option of switching him to Male Singer at a later time.
Quote:
Bob Dylan's influence on popular music is incalculable. As a songwriter, he pioneered several different schools of pop songwriting, from confessional singer/songwriter to winding, hallucinatory, stream-of-conscious narratives. As a vocalist, he broke down the notions that in order to perform, a singer had to have a conventionally good voice, thereby redefining the role of vocalist in popular music. As a musician, he sparked several genres of pop music, including electrified folk-rock and country-rock. And that just touches on the tip of his achievements.

I'm going to be completely shameless and pick something or someone from my band in one of my categories.. We rule. 100x better than those lame-o bands that have already been picked.

Thank you, thank you. I am grateful for this opportunity to participate in this wonderful event. Without further ado...
[Name Pending] chooses for their first pick:

Geddy Lee is an award winning musician, including several awards as "Best Rock Bass" from Guitar Player Magazine, who's skill, style and technique have inspired the likes of Steve Harris of Iron Maiden, Les Claypool of Primus and Cliff Burton of Metallica.
Our next pick will come sometime before 3 p.m. today.
OK. Got that out of the way. On to the second pick!
Our choice for band, [Name Pending] chooses:
Nine Inch Nails
Formed in 1988 by producer, songwriter, singer, instrumentalist Trent Reznor (who is the bands only official member), Nine Inch Nails (often abbreviated NIN) is one of the most influential bands in the last 10 years.
Nine Inch Nails has won 2 Grammys and have had several other nominations.
NIN's music often straddles many musical genres while keeping its characteristic sounds through the use of electronic instruments. The music produced by Trent Reznor is always released to its fans in order for them to utilize their own creativity and create remixes of their favourite songs.
Nine Inch Nails is also one of the first artists to break away from the record industry, and is now currently releasing their music independently.
