Cost of sod

My back lawn is a shambles and I'm considering putting in some sod. Anyone out there have knowledge of what it would cost to do about 1300 sq feet of yard in the Calgary area?

I assume a DIY job?

Sod comes in 10 square foot rolls (2X5) for about $3-4 per roll. At that low of volume; assume $4. So $120.

Then of course there's any prep like loam, peat moss, and Scott's Turf Starter.

Edit- a few places to get you started for where to buy:

In the North- Blue Grass Nursery

I also keep seeing signs at Burnco saying "sod supplied by Company X", but haven't seen an obvious place where the keep the sodding sod.

Thanks Ken. That's cheaper than I would have thought. Yeah, it'll be a DIY endeavor. Now I have to decide if I want to dig up my whole lawn, reseed etc etc or go with the sod option. My back lawn is dry and dead, it's basically beyond repairing and requires a full reboot at this point. The previous owners did zero lawn maintenance apparently. Sod's looking like the way to go.

If you've got patience i think seeding is definately a good way to go, just takes while longer to see much results

A heineken keg will do just fine. Oh, and wings. Already booked for 4 sod laying parties this summer, book now before it's too late!
