ha ha... ya, completely understandable. I wasn't really apprised of the whole trip-hop movement until I heard Portishead. That led to seeking out Massive Attack, Tricky, and even some lesser lights like Morcheeba.

As a scene it didn't last too long. Probably a good thing.

ha ha... I suspect that largely involved lava lamps and some smokable plants.

Good times indeed.

If Charlie Murphy of the Chappelle Show is to be believed, Prince was always one bad MF...

Who is Ween?
Ween is one of my top ten favorite bands:

http://www.allmusic.com/cg/amg.dll?p...9foxqe5ldse~T1

Ween was the ultimate cosmic goof of the alternative rock era, a prodigiously talented and deliriously odd duo whose work traveled far beyond the constraints of parody and novelty into the heart of surrealist ecstasy. Despite a mastery for seemingly every mutation of the musical spectrum, the group refused to play it straight; in essence, Ween was bratty deconstructionists, kicking dirt on the pop world around them with demented glee. Along with the occasional frat-boy lapses into misogyny, racism, and homophobia, the band's razor-sharp satire cut to the inherently silly heart of rock & roll with hilariously acute savagery; fueled by psilocybin mushrooms and an all-consuming craving for hot meals, Ween created their own self-contained universe, a parallel dimension where the only sacred cow was their own demon god, the Boognish.

Thanks - I'll be picking this up for sure. Right up my alley.

"I can't believe I'm sharing a ka-baab with the most beautiful girl I've ever seen with a ka-baab" LOL

Reminds me of Your Party by Ween:

There were beverages laid out for the party
There were candy and spices and tricolored pastas
The meat carved was drawn from succulent juices
Served on platters of the purest gold

I was calm when we arrived at the party
I spoke with fervor, embracing the evening
My wife leaned over and she whispered 'I love you'
I held her close - we danced

We had the best time at your party
The wife and I thank you very much

I know this is a bit off topic, but I have to ask...is their first record (I'm assuming it was their first) as good as Frances? I have a pretty limited new music budget and the bookends to Frances The Mute are two I've been considering.

Anywhere I Lay My Head - Scarlett Johansson

So far she's got a 61 on Metacritic.

However, the Globe and Mail is not so kind:

Ultimately she comes across as a touch slow, as if she'd been hit in the head with a blunt object before she got to the studio.

Or, at least, as if she should have been.
