You're missing some amazing movies Dis, some movies I'm 99% sure you'd love.
City of God, and Downfall are two that spring to mind.
As for the list, 152. Surprising considering I've seen less and less movies the past couple of years, almost seem to catch the good ones though.

I did see a movie called "City of God" a few years back and it had subtitles and should have been on that list over several films, but I'm sure we all have our "this movie is better than number XXX on that list" gripes.
|
LOL!
I'm not sure whether I want this to be intentionally funny or unintentionally funny.

139. I'm amazed how many 'newer' movies I've yet to see. Obviously I haven't been much of a movie buff in recent years.

142 for me.
I made a point to try and watch some of the older movies on this list a few years ago.
Some of the movies on that list are just crap but I guess it does a good job of having a broad view of what people like.

87 for me. And Groundhog Day is an amazing film. I always want to watch more movies (in fact, I think I own 5 or 6 on the list I haven't got around to yet) but my wife has particular tastes in movies. I end up watching them on the odd days she's working late.

108.
My percentage would be higher without the foreign language ones. I think Lola Rennt (Run Lola Run) is the only foreign film on the list that I've seen.

The Good, The Bad and the Ugly and Once Upon a Time in the West are listed as foreign, I'm a sucker for a good spaghetti western.

That list is bull, the fact that the 3 Lord of the Rings movies are in the top 30 means this is just a popularist bs list dominated by average Americans. The Departed (#42) is on there while the original and superior film Infernal Affairs is #236??? Pirates of the Caribbean 3 is #250? That should be in the bottom 250 movies of all time!
I'm glad I haven't seen a lot of movies on this list because they are just mainstream, recent, commercial crap!!! What foreign films that are on there are just the popular ones most available in english. This list is HORRIBLE!

You should seriously reconsider that. That movie was absolutely incredible. I would pay to see it several more times it was so good.

Lol... Relax, man. This is like hating hip hop or indie. A popular list is really the only way to gauge interest. I personally don't care for (read: hate) movies like Grindhouse (the fact that I've seen that movie makes me want to kick my own ass).
But I know many people that like and love that genre. Your top 250 will be different from everyone else's. But there will be a few in common.

Pretty sure IMDB.com gets a lot of hits from non-Americans. But I guess we're the only one's stupid enough to not know a good movie when we see one? WTF man?
Internal Affairs (Gere and Garcia?) is that what you're referring to? Great movie. So was The Departed. Maybe you're talking about the Japanese film? I don't know the name of it.
Wow.

And that is exactly the problem. "In fernal Affairs" is a Hong Kong film (part of a trilogy) which is the original of "The Departed" and yet, Americans (even at the Oscars referred to it as a Japanese film). Ridiculous. The Departed lost all of the important aspects of Infernal Affairs and it turned into yet another cliche-ridden American gangster Scorsese film.
Actually, IMDB's ranking system and algorithm is highly flawed but yes, it's just a popularist list and I don't see the point of seeing how many of the most popular films you have seen. It's not an accomplisment I would be especially proud of holding whereas some of you are expressing shame in how few you have seen.

Blah blah blah. Stop being annoying, and a snob.
I'd wager that a Japanese version of imdb has Internal Affairs higher then The Departed. Who cares, my god man. Does this ranking make you enjoy your movies less?
You're such a depressing guy.
