check canadian tire if you are still looking at bast they have some decent ones for 40-50 bucks

Cool. I'll be the 3rd stringer.

As for bats, I was at Source in Tuxedo and they had over 100 different bats. Most of them were $200-$300. There were a few on sale for around $100, but I've got a problem with thinking that I'm buying something inferior when it's that much cheaper than the other stuff.

haha. i got lucky and found mine at sport check regular 130 on for 60

Cowboy89's brother works at a sportchek in the NW, and can get a fairly decent discount (25%, iirc). He might be able to get you a bat a little cheaper if you provide him with a model and some pesos.

You could look on ebay to see if any manufacturers are selling off last years stock. I think one of they guys on a team last year got a $300 bat for around $75.

Oh yeah, and Central has 4 extra jerseys they are ordering up (2 L, 2XL). So if they don't need all four and we need extra we could see if they want to sell us two or something.

Do we have everything lined up for the game? I'd hate to show up and find out I was elected to bring bases or something...

Your first game is Thursday night on the NE Crescent Heights diamond. Games start at 6:45, so show up at least 15 minutes before then (half an hour is better even), please. Although there is a 15 minute grace period, we prefer to get the games going on time (especially early in the season).

You are the visitors, so you don't have to bring bases or a game ball. I scheduled you against a pretty fun team, the Sud Suckers. And I will be playing on the other diamond against the other new team, so if there are any questions or problems, I am handy.

Will come over to say "Hi" and give you some SPN stuff (rulebook, roster, etc) before the game.

Have fun! And welcome to the league.

As for you SW people.... your time will come... oh yes... it's coming!!!!

Be aware too, regarding the beer coolers.... the cops DO come by from time to time. And they will ticket you if caught.

What is the rule for beer at these games. I understand it is illegal as it is open alcohol in a public location, but I was under the impression that every team does it so as long as we are civil and responsible about it, well, nobody really cares.

I have played for more years than I should admit, and I've luckily perhaps, never had a problem with the police. Having a beer cooler every time.

If we are at Shouldice it will be harder especially in the quad.

Optimist for last seven years or so (wednesdays) there were police only once. Pulled right up to us and our open liquor in the parking lot. Lights came on, we were a little worried.

Turned out to be a girl on our team, since she was training to be an officer! Funny joke, bi tch.
