You're right, a little bit of snow and hell does break loose in this city. I blame all the eastern transplants.
But today was not a little bit of snow!

From Cranston to Copperfield (to pickup the dude I carpool with) and downtown. 2 hours, 50 minutes. What's with all of the damn stalls anyway? There was a brand new Benz stalled on Glenmore, for crying out loud!

We're the ones that know how to drive in the snow. A few times this winter we've had big dumps of snow and it added 10 minutes on to my commute. Instead of trying to do 100 on the highway EVERYONE slows down to around 60 and gets home.

Added 10 minutes to your commute in a city a 10th the size of Calgary? Kinda makes sense, doesnt it?

Almost died twice too. hehe.
Went down Sarcee, no traffic at all, into Bowness, through to Montgomery and up home road. I thought for sure i would get stuck there.
Went through Varsity and Brentwood, and took back streets to 19th St NW. It's pretty hilly there and there were about 5 cars stuck trying to go up. Went into the opposite lane and just gunned it onto John Laurie. To 14th street where there were all kinds of busses and cars stuck by the police station.
To 64th avenue, going down good thing, cuz there was no way in hell anyone was going up 64th and onto Deerfoot.
Almost got sideswiped by a semi, got onto that airport road where someone cut me off, I hit the brakes and they went flying into the ditch.
And then going home from the Airport to Varsity it only took 18 minutes. hahahahahahaha. Just driving normal roads.

As an aside, the N95 is a pretty decent camera for being a phone.

What a fabulously awesome day... I love storms. We had a little party on 14th street pushing cars up the hill. Some poor (but very cute) chick that was helping out got sprayed pretty bad. That's what you get for being nice!
I scored large. Now all the mud that was caked to the bottom of my truck is gone. And my boots are clean too!
I seriously love surprise snowstorms. I love them even more when I know that it'll all be gone by tomorrow.

I live in NW calgary and work in crossfield/carstairs and disdbury
I got to wark about 20 minutes later than usual today, back highway wasnt so bad, pretty clean driving. But once I needed to turn onto Highway 2....absolute crap
nobody going faster than 60, I moved to the left lane start to speed up to pass people, and my engine started to sputter, RPMs started hitting 7-8000 and now im slowing down to 30 in the left hand lane...hazards on and I got out of the way as soon as I could.
A little past Airdrie and the roads werent so bad
I shoulda opted to work from home today, drink some beers and get ready for the game

I'm lucky today seeing as how I haven't taken my stat holiday from Good Friday, I decided to call work and tell them I'd take it today.
I'm just hoping once our garden center opens up at Superstore, we don't get a huge snowfall like this. Of course, knowing my luck, since this is my first year as supervisor of that department, it'll probably snow like crazy on the first day.

The Weather Network is calling for showers. This afternoon. Rain. Then freezing overnight. If it all works out like they predict it might be a good idea to go home for dinner a little early and then leave for work after dessert.
Was this snowstorm predicted at all? It totally surprised me when I got up this morning.
They are still predicting 12 for tomorrow, which could make things a little messy, and up to 20 by Sunday.

I predict the afternoon commute will be just as bad because of all the people that failed to put washer fluid in their cars.
