Ultimate Frisbee
I took up this sport last summer and am officially hooked. Just wondering how many on the board have played it and for those who haven't what you think of it.
Decent video of a couple College games in the States:

Yup, I play in a rec league 'C' division team (goes up to 'D'). It's a hell of a lot of fun.

I have one serious problem with ultimate frisbee.
That being, that if I were to invent a sport called "ultimate frisbee", it would look nothing like ultimate frisbee.

I agree. There's nothing "ultimate" about a non-contact "sport". At least it's better than something ######ed like "Xtreme Frisbee".

Yup,
the only thing I hate more than the name of ultimate frisbee, is when people just refer to it as "Ultimate".
Seriously, even soccer, is more ultimate than Ultimate Frisbee, and anyone who knows my feelings on soccer, now understands my disdane for this "sport".

Lol. I listed ultimate frisbee on the "Fads You Hate" thread.
My biggest beef with "ultimate frisbee" is when people call it simply "ultimate". I knew people in universtity who played it, and they suddenly sounded like surfers from Venice Beach when they talked about it.
"Duuude... are you gonna play ultimate with us?"
"Yeah buuuhddy!"

One of the teachers at my son's school started a team for this at our school and my son loves it. There are only a few schools in our area that play, so they only play one tournament, but it's catching on. Two years ago was the first time I had ever heard of it. Lots of fun to watch too.
Good exercise for the kids.

Looks like a big game of jump-ball. Will the sport come to be dominated by 7 footers?

They should electrify the frisbee so you get zapped everytime you touch it and then just keep turning up the volts.
That would "ultimate-up" this game a little bit.
That, or give everyone a paintball gun and make them play the game through a hail of gunfire.
Catching a frisbee is easy, catching a frisbee while being pummelled by dozens of small high-velocity projectiles is difficult.

HAHA! That's a great idea. Let the fans shoot the players. It'd give new meaning to the old 'seventh man' cliche.

Been playing off and on for years.
I'll play any sport or game and have a hard time saying no to joining teams throughout the spring/summer. Thus I'm booked for Ultimate, hockey, soccer, flag football and even slow pitch for the first time in my life this summer.
It's a good run, and a great way to enjoy good weather. Just like soccer, it's easy to find an open field and get a game going if you have the numbers.
I will say that I would play hockey over Ultimate 10 times out of ten, but random, free ice times are hard to find...
That, and I also thought the name was lame when I first heard it.

I played for the first time last year in the Calgary corporate challenge. It's pretty fun and is great exercise. I signed up for a team this coming summer.
