Default Wang pounding Women at Curling Worlds

Alright...I confess that I just wanted to use this thread title!

China is off to a huge start for them at the World Curling Championships though, and beat Canada yesterday for the their first time ever. Anyone else watching?

Yup! It's something to watch at work
Canada and China could meet twice more.
And China was accused of over-celebrating yesterday which means next time we send out our goons for retribution!

Yup, I have watched quite a few games. Canada had a great come back victory yesterday against the States.... They were down by 5 at one point.

Read about the crazy happenings with the Scottish team. In short, the coach asked the skip (who was sucking) to sit out...the second took offense and refused to play if that happened. Eventually, both sat out and the rest played 2 games Thursday as a threesome.

That's some high-quality teamwork there

what a strange story that is. totally quitting on your team? Munro was brutal in the game i saw her play in, draw weight was all over the place. that can't happen at that level.

the growth of the chinese team is remarkable. granted getting to the highest level of women's curling is a lot easier than men's curling, but still, they've ascended to the top essentially overnight.

It helps when they live in Canada year round and the only thing they do is curling. They have Canadian coaches who work with there Chinese coaches to allow them to get better with strategy.

It also helps that Canada played HOOOOOORIIIBLE.
The Chinese team is good when the game is open. Teams should attack them with lots of rocks in play and see how they react when they have to make pressure shot after pressure shot. As you said, they are better with the strategy but it's still their weakness.

Also, this page-system doesn't make sense. Why does a team like China have to potentially beat a team like Canada THREE times to win the championship?

i agree with this, to beat a team twice, then lose once to them in the final and lose the championship to a team you are 2-1 against in the tournament is pretty dumb.

Yeah they did. Japanese kids were inexperienced.
Easy draw for the win in the 10th but were too scared to play it.

Not sure if China is better cause they are inexperienced too.
Put lots of rocks in play and see if they choke.

LOL, every team would of played the double. Its never easy when its the 10th end....

I thought Canada played extremely well the last two ends. The Freeze in the 10th was a great shot.

Go Canada Go!!

Why is it dumb? Thats the format that has been used for a long time. Personally I think it makes sense it simply rewards the top 2 teams with a extra chance.

For Example it gives the top team an extra chance if they lose the playoff against the number 2 team...... Which they deserve for their great round robin record.

um, i think i explained why it's dumb... so why does second place Canada get two shots at first place china in the playoffs just because they finish second in the round robin in which they lost to china? How does it reward China? they have to beat canada 3 times while canada only has to beat them once.

and BTW it''s only been used at worlds since '05. in Canada since '96

just my opinion.
