Some of you are referring to this as a drug deal gone bad. A little harsh don't you think??

I think of it was flameswin jay walking, and the driver sped up to purposely hit him.

Some people will call scalping drug dealing, some will call it jay walking, some will call it murder, some will call it not stopping for a complete 3 seconds at a stop sign. All these comparisons are not fair.

Here are the facts:
- flameswin tried to scalp his tickets
- flameswin did not recover his costs for the two tickets in the transaction
- flameswin did not get face value for the tickets
- He got intentionally screwed on the money for the AGREED price
- flameswin could cancel the tickets and informed the lady
- This lady is now threatening gang violence on him

Who's side are you guys taking???? I'm with flameswin here. It comes down to the intent of scalping vs. threatened violence. Its an easy choice what is worse. Currently, he has not officially scalped the tickets.

From my perspective, I would call and cancel the tickets. I would also consider giving $100 back, but don't know if I would go that far. If I did, I would leave it in a location and call to tell them where it is. This would cover your ass if something else happened.

I hope she doesn't have any personal information other than a cell phone number or email address (which does not have your full name).

LOL...wow. This thread just turned from mildly amusing to outrageously hilarious. Scalpers are some of the lowest forms of life on the Earth, IMO. You got what you deserved.

From what was posted earlier, face value for the pair is around $80 and he paid under $60. He got $100. Someone's math isn't right, could be mine if I read incorrectly, but if I didn't he still made money on the transaction.

Soapbox time:

People who scalp tickets are ruining sports for the common person. The average person can't afford season tickets anymore. I live in London Ontario but I'll try to equate what I make to Calgary dollars to make things easy for you. I would make roughly $75,000 (about $45,000 here, my house there would go for $375,000 + there, here I paid $192,000), and my wife would make about $68,000 (roughly $40,000) here. We have a reasonable mortgage payment, some pretty high debt though there are worse than us, no car payment's (I have a company car with gas and insurance paid for and we have an '02 Malibu that is paid for, though is on our line of credit) and enough money to go away 2 or 3 times a year, nothing extravagent, but Chicago for the weekend, or a trip to the Carribbean every couple years, or a trip to Myrtle Beach. I can golf a few times a week, put money into RRSP's and education funds for son, drink my beer and smoke 3-4 packs a week....you get the idea.

I am on the season ticket waiting list for the London Knights, those tickets are about $15 face value, less for season's. It comes out to about $450 for the 34 home games, plus exhibitions and first playoff rights. That will be about the extent of what I can spend. I already could not afford season tickets in an NHL city without taking from another pile. Then you get people who are obviously better off than I am with seaosn tickets and decide that they are business people and need more money off the average schlub who just wants to go and see his team play. It pisses me off. Obviously it isn't high on the list of crimes, but it is unfair to people who love the sport, tickets are expensive enough without some asshat charging more and more for tickets.

*Steps off soapbox

On one hand, I agree. I remember during the 04 playoff run, many people were buying tickets with the sole intention of re-selling them for profit. Those people have no right to profit from the Flames organization while taking advantage of their customers. It should be illegal... and it is.

On the other hand, I think that if people buy season tickets with the intention of using the tickets, selling the occasional one for above the face value is not such a horrible thing.

The season ticket price is already considerably less than face value.

http://flames.nhl.com/team/app/?serv...bcid=tic_seats

That's why I can't agree with selling for over face.

It's just not something I would feel right about doing. Honestly, the person buying the tickets is doing you a favour by making sure your money doesn't go to waste, I don't see the point in trying to make a profit off the same individual (well besides greed).

I have something like 10-13 tickets for an upcoming Oiler game in calgary, that I am selling. Now I am scared.

At first I didn't want to sell to Oiler fans, now I have to watch out for nice seeming, gangland crazy Asian women! Yikes.

ps flameswin, shawnski is at least 14, I met him.

pps nota bena: am selling for exact price paid! One guy said "so I'll give you $70 then?" I said "yes, and I'll give you 46 cents back".

Is this true? Nearly quadrupling face-value/300 bucks is cheap for a couple seats in the second deck to see boring old Minnesota?

If it is true, the Flames need to bump their ticket prices up considerably.

It's crappy that she didn't live up to her end of the bargain and she's clearly a little thug, but after hearing how ridiculously over face value you were asking, haha suddenly I don't feel so bad anymore. I can't believe you actually found someone supposedly willing to spend nearly quadruple the face value(and nearly six times the value for a season ticket holder) for a regular season game. If she's still willing to give you the extra $200 like she said she would once you informed her you'd have them cancelled, I don't see why you wouldn't do it. That's a huge profit. Don't meet up with her though, just get her to mail it to you.

Haha I still can't believe how much over face value you were charging for a regular season game, that's absolutely beyond highway robbery. Did you offer that price, or did she just pop up and come up with that #? If so, she probably only did it to scare all the other possible bidders away and then she could deal with you directly, and give you what she felt was a much more reasonable price.

Perhaps not, but there is "schadenfreude," which is present in abundance in this thread!

Oh for F*** sakes!!!! I sell half my tickets on Calgarypuck for below face value to be nice to my fellow Flames fans, give away a pair of tickets in a trivia contest in the main forum, then I sell tickets to ONE GAME out of the whole year for above face value to the Canucks game because moniey is pretty tight right now, and knowing before hand that it will likely be a Vancouver fan, and now I'm the lowest form of life on earth? Sorry I can't be as ****** perfect as you Rubecube!

After getting ripped apart by the highhorse calgarypuck faithful, I contacted her and asked if she would like her $100 back in exchange for the tickets. She agreed to meet up with me this weekend sometime. So hopefully all goes well and then I'll just sell them to some friends or someone I can trust for face value.... and if she shows up with her boyfriend and his fellow gang members, and I'm subsequently slaughtered, then THAT will be karma biting me in the ass.
