AC/DC is pretty crappy. Good if you're drunk, or maybe at a sports event, but I can't just put on some AC/DC and listen to it.

Bon Jovi is annoying.

Coldplay is pretty bad..... kinda puts you to sleep.

Smashing pumpkins is a good one I usually forget. They're songs themselves arn't entirely bad, but the singer sounds like he's ######ed.

Let's see... I bolded the names that usually get me the most flack
Me dislikes:
Aerosmith (average), Smashing Pumpkins (the voice, it hurts), Bob Marley (just not very good in it's genre), Johnny Cash (pretentious, some horrible covers, few good covers but not that original really), Eric Clapton (was this guy born in a bubble? Put some feeling into it, man!), Guns'n'Roses (hate the vocals, hate the guitars, all good songs are covers, managed to create just one good intro, irritating people, ridiculously hyped), U2 (just too average, way overhyped, Bono is a definite nominee for the most hypocritical celebrity ever), Arcade Fire (not as talented as they seem to think), Janis Joplin (yeah, she was a woman, big whoop), Linkin Park / Nickelback / Creed (I'm not even sure I can remember which is which, I just know I hate each of them when I hear them), Tool (one-trick pony, mostly really boring, sucks live, occasionally I like the general sound), Coldplay (*shudder*), Ozzy Osbourne ("Mama I'm coming home" is a crime against humanity), Pantera (a couple of good songs but really just boring), Rolling Stones (mostly just old, remarkably few notable songs considering the size of the back catalog), System of a Down (really only the last two albums, but I hate those with conviction. Generally they hide their lack of composing by chopping songs into tiny bits. Yodling metal, how dumbed down can you get? The first three albums are not that bad, but too uneven and somewhat redundant.), Beach Boys (just not good), Frank Zappa (Zappa rules as a man, but I really don't see the point of most of what he did), Beastie Boys (a couple of rocking hits, but the albums are untolerable), Patti Smith (I had to add this because so many of my friends love her. I just don't see the point.)

I left out a lot that were already mentioned, because I can't list all bands I don't like anyway.
Me Likes (out of those mentioned):
Beatles, Pink Floyd, Modest Mouse

I used to like Jimi Hendrix and Metallica, but Metallica post-Justice mostly sucks, and Jimi's very very dead, all the songs are worn out. I also still like the Doors, which many find weird. Admittedly, they're kind of horrible. But they're just so lovable.

Nine Inch Nails has some of the best songs ever, even if a lot of it's stuff is pretty pointless.

Be careful . . . people who use the phrases similar "you have no taste in music if you like ____________" fit quite nicely into the category of musical snob. I'm no fan of three days grace either, but I wouldn't personally attack people who do.

Well, I am a music snob. I've been well-trained to not snob-out on people and there are plenty of cases on this board where I wanted to snob out. And didn't. I am a saint of restraint.

But if you like 3 days grace, you suck as a music fan.

I'm being a little tongue-in-cheek. Guess I better make that clear.

Only reason I like Three Days Grace is because of their hard, but catchy, melodies and the lead singers scratchy vocal tones; I dunno, for some reason I dig that.

It's their lyrics that make them look like a bunch of wanking whiners.

The Doors for me - random english words are not poetry. Psychedelic keyboard noodling is just annoying. Most over-rated "classic rock" band ever IMO.

Peter Gabriel - Sledgehammer makes me want to take a sledgehammer to the radio.

Wow can't believe all the U2 haters out there... especially the person that thinks Bono can't sing. He definately can't hit the high notes he once did but he has been one of the best vocalist and song writers for the past couple decades. Maybe some of you are too young to appreciate most of their stuff, or maybe i'm just old.

Mine are
AC/DC
Eagles
Aerosmith
Tom Cochrane (if you consider him "great"... I always need to shut that crap off when its on the radio)

Seriously. I've heard so much praise for their live performances that I really had a nice buzz before the gig at Ruisrock in 2006, especially since I was with a couple of big Tool fans who were really excited. A huge disappointment.

Granted, only saw them once, but there was really no point in seeing them live. They sounded essentially the same as on their albums (all the albums have been force-fed on me, although I just tend to tune it out pretty fast), and there's nothing to see visually, as the band just stands there, doing nothing. (The singers pretentious pose started to get irritating. Yeah, I get it, you think you're an artist. Even Trent Reznor created more contact with the audience, and he's not exactly mr. social.) The videos looked kinda cool for the first five minutes, but then I really started to get annoyed by how much of the background stuff is just pure filler, and not even quality filler, just low-grade fractals and so on. I got the same stuff on my WinAmp plugins. Everything worth seeing I've seen on their actual music videos. Eventually I just walked away and catched the later half of the Bellrays. They were nice in comparison, quite lively, although really they're just kind of a polished version of the better pub bands out there, which is not a compliment.

I never got this comparison, except historically. The Beatles went much further and are much more varied, had some really good lyrics (gotta love McCartneys twisted humour) and even rocked real nice at the start of their career, where the Beach Boys never created much anything than really well-produced pop, something which is historically an achievement but irrelevant for on a modern listener. Where's their Helter Skelter? Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite? Happiness is a Warm Gun? Pet Sounds is very propably the most overrated album ever.

So what?

Besides, I'm sure they have their devotees all over the world.

That being said, I have to plug my ears whenever a song of theirs comes on. I used to love them but I'd have to kill them. I think it was an Act of Parliament in the early/mid 90's that every bar/party/house in the country had a Tragically Hip hour at some point every night. Blech.
